This has to be the most devastating World Series loss I’ve witnessed.
What makes it so excruciating for Toronto fans is the fact that a million little instances needed to go in LA favor in order for them to win it all and they all did.
A chronical set of agonizing 50/50 plays all went in LAD favor. Truly abhorrent and disgusting to lose this way.
Hoffman giving up a solo bomb to that bum who couldn’t sniff first base from a mile away. The list goes on and on.
The official stopping play last night on a wedged ball? that pos ref executed Toronto last night.

games like this put me in the gambling retirement home. when you win you feel like you endured an hours long hostage siege with a miracle outcome & you are thanking God for the gift of not dying. then when you lose you spend hours counting your money, only needing 1 more play to close the deal & disaster happens & you lose it all on a wedged ball.
so win or lose you wind up in an emotional free fall without a parachute. now i curse as the patriots win 5 covers in a row while the game they lost vs steelers put me in retirement.

The ironic thing about the wedged ball is that after the ump called it a dead ball Justin Dean grabbed the ball easily and threw it into play....now that in itself was bullshit and has Never Ever happened in that ballpark.
The ball was not stuck or unplayable it was surrendered for a call that should of NOT went in favor of LA.

a wedged ball in any stadium is a dead ball...what are you people talking about...it's been a ground rules since like the 50s...The rule exists because there is no guarantee that a fielder could retrieve the ball cleanly to make a play..
Only people complaining about this would be a person who lost money and are looking for a reason to blame something for your addiction...a Dodgers or Toronto fan or just a fan of baseball would know this rule to be that way in any ballpark for any game...was it a bad break, yea, but it's a rule in place for almost 75 years....
And Smith tapped home plate with his toe just before the runners foot got in...replay was clear
Move on...

Like they say that's how the ball bounces or never bounces as was the case with that wedged ball. And fyi the dodger fielder did the right thing when he raised his hand signifying to the umpiring officials the ball got stuck/wedged under the wall and not going after it to pick it up because by rule it became a dead ball resulting in a ground rule double...real heads up play by the dodgers center fielder to stop runners from scoring.

The umpire went over there to see if the ball was unplayable The ball was 100% playable and could have been easily grabbed and picked up and put in the play as Justin Dean showed right after the BS call was made and the call was wrong and my or any Toronto gambling loss has nothing to do with a blatant bad call.

Obviously, you don't know baseball rules...that's why you're not an umpire...lol A wedged or stuck ball under the wall is a dead ball which results in a ground rule double. So, man on first goes to third base, batter who had hit the ball goes to second base.

Sometimes you can't even help people move on...I guess when the ball gets stuck in the ivy in Chicago they should just play on because every ball is playable..even when you provide the 75 year rule they just like to ignore it...

Your reasoning right there is a reason why this rule needs to be amended so that it is crystal clear which it currently is not. Should read. If the trajectory of the baseball is immediately stopped because it’s lodged under or into any part of the playing field then it’s automatically a dead ball with no live or dead ball ruling needed from the umpire.
What's the need for the umpire then? Because clearly the ball was playable and it was clearly visible when you watch it. That's all I'm saying. I know the rules but why isn't it etched in stoned then? What is the umpire needed for?

Per rule 5.05 (a) (7), a ball is considered lodged if, in the judgment of the umpire, the natural trajectory of the flight of the ball is interrupted long enough to affect further play. A batted ball that sticks in a fence, scoreboard, shrubbery or vines located on the playing field should be considered a lodged ball. Likewise, a ball that goes behind a field tarp or wall padding without leaving the playing field should also be considered to be lodged. Also, a lodged ball occurs anytime the momentum of a rolling ball is stopped abruptly and sticks or is stuck under the fence padding, shrubbery etc. Runners are awarded two bases when it is rules that the ball is lodged.
How easily a ball might be retrieved by the fielder should not factor in the decision as to whether or not to declare a ball as “lodged.”
The determination of whether a ball is lodged is subject to Replay Review.
If the outcome can be determined by review, the ruling shall stand regardless of the action on the field. The action on the field including the decision of a fielder to raise his hands to ask for umpire review of a lodged ball or to play the ball are still important as replay may not always have a definitive angle.
If an umpire has gone out into the outfield, or anywhere in the park, and can see that the ball is lodged, he should kill the play (regardless of whether the fielder plays or raises his hands) and the rule (two bases from time of pitch) should be enforced. If the umpire cannot determine whether or not the ball is lodged from his position, the ball will be kept in play regardless of the fielder’s actions. Unless the ball is played by the fielder, the umpire should then go out and inspect the ball. If the fielder retrieves the ball before the umpire can inspect it, the play stands unless it is overturned at the Command Center. Of course, minor league umpires and teams do not have that luxury.

Yes, tough break but by the letter of the rule it was applied correctly...umpire still has judgement to make but once it becomes stuck the ball is dead..it's tough but fair and really takes the subjectivness out of it

I'm from Chicago and with that ivy at Wrigley I have seen many a calls overruled because it blatantly was just laying There and was totally playable and visible such as it appeared. It was playable and visible in this situation with Dean but the ump ruled it dead and it is what it is and yes the ump could of ruled sorry Justin look you can easily pick it up with no resistance and had done so I really think it would of been hard for the dodgers to dispute it.
No disrespect ABN it's tough but fair and the ump definitely took the subjectiveness out of it in this case and the ruling stands and the Jays and their fans are going to have to move on which i have already done thank you.
Good luck on your next gamble ABN

All told the Blue Jays played an incredible series. I give them a lot of credit after that 18 inning loss they really showed mental fortitude. That said they had two games to get it done at home and diid not. The Dodgers are what typical good high priced teams are. Hard to finish off and they got some breaks but they also came through as a team in big moments. Blue Jays had many chances the last two games to but the RBI hits eluded them. With an overpaid roster and offense like that you cannot bank on winning tight games against a lineup that can't be stopped every time.
When I saw the 3-0 score and then they had it at 4-2 with a chance for more it did not happen. I still love the Dodgers paying billions of dollars to squeak by for it's second World Series (2020 does not count for shit in my book) since Walter Guggenheim syndicate bought them and made the bankrupt Frank McCourt a "billionaire." What a joke.

I believe that even if the ball is completely wedged by anything. If the player even so much as attempts to get it out,no matter what after that happens,it is considered a live ball and play will continue.I think that rule is because at some point in Wrigley Field history, some player put his hands into the ivy pretending to be looking for the ball, but was actually shoving it further into the ivy so it couldnt be found right away.So they made the rule that if you even attempt to get it out, even if its completely wedged and it cant be pulled out,its still a live ball because the player attempted to get the ball out.

Those finding reasons to cry and whine about Toronto should go back and watch game 7. I would blame it all on the couple that was sitting right behind home plate. The GIRL was a nervous wreck with a R.B.F the entire game. Giving off nothing but negative vibes and the dorky looking boyfriend was only there because he able 2afford the tickets 2take her hahaha. He was also a nervous wreck giving off bad JUJU. The bad vibe Juju was projected onto Yesavage, Hoffman and the Blue Jay's offense hahaha

“And Smith tapped home plate with his toe just before the runners foot got in...replay was clear“
Ya.....he did, I mean the runner’s foot was just an inch too late. I am surprised how quickly the replay decision took, given all the dirt being kicked around obscuring the edges of the plate.
The real reason the Jays lost was due to their manager, he didn’t try and mix things up enough....like try a suicide squeeze (I know Kirk probably sucks at bunting) to score Vladdy to make it 5-5. You don’t put Yesavage into pitch with the pressure on, he’s a starter, he’s a rookie, he is not used to coming in late game, he already did his job in game 5.
I’ll leave it there for now

Action-brutal loss for sure for Toronto backers but they had a lot of chances and LA is a team that you can't give an inch to...they should have plated a 5th run after lead off double bottom of 7, they pull Yesavage early; Dodgers kept 'em in sight and real tough for Toronto (with the super close force out then the broken bat at the end) but that's ball for you! Give credit to Dave Roberts for making the right calls...

Yep Dave Roberts sure did made a lot of right call in the World Series. He definitely put 2bed the narrative that he's a bad manager and should be fired
