Rangers are Cruzing.. who says they can't beat Verlander twice? Tigers only managed to get 5 hits yesterday, two of which didn't come until the 7th inning from two guys named Martinez and Cabrera. Doesn't matter how good your starter pitches, if your team can't hit - you can't win.

What do you think about the Rangers to win it all? Cards/Brewers will have homefield, which definitely hurts as it takes a bat out of the Texas lineup for potentially 4 games. That being said maybe I'm biased because I just love this Rangers team, but I really think they're the best team and playing on the road typically doesn't bother them.
I guess if you DO like them to win it all it then it becomes a bit of a crapshoot as to when to bet it. Sitting at +110 right now (at Pinny anyway), which given their current odds to finish off the Tigers puts them at about -115 for the World Series. This seems about right as they'll be the better team, but as mentioned won't have home field.
Based on that, it seems like buying now would be smart, but if you think the Tigers with Verlander going today take one more you might get an even better price before Game 6.

I'm concerned about Milwaukee. Something tells me that if they come back and beat St. Louis that this is their year to win it all. I've just had that feeling about them for awhile that all the stars are aligned. If Texas faces St. Louis, I think it's an easier series than the Tigers and they should win.
At nearly pick'em odds, I also don't see any value to make a future bet on them at this point when their potential opponent is unknown and they haven't even finished off the Tigers. Besides, they're back facing 1,2,3 in Detroit's rotation - that's no easy task. You'll be able to make just as much profit if you pick the right spots to back them in each game until the end.
Short answer: Texas at +110 to win the series right now just aint worth it.

See post #23 - I hedged out of the risk of the bet after game 1 of this series so the payout was 4.47 units instead of the original 5.3. Lost a pair of 2u bets in football since I did this write-up so with this winner I'm now 17-7 on 2u bets this season.

I'm glad i hammered this one before the start of ALCS playoffs.
Hopefully they win the world series this year, they are much better team even without Cliff Lee this year and they deserve it !
Thanks Fort! With the beating I've been taking in football I've needed a good MLB postseason just to keep my bankroll from bleeding. This 4.5 unit winner really helps! Glad to see you cashed it too.. this was a fun wager to watch with my peers on this forum. Congratulations!

si1ly, I need to say thank you. I followed your pick and now we both have some more cash. Keep it up. Any thoughts on tomorrow?...Like possibly putting down on the Cards? The ump is a homer, but Marcum throws meatballs and Cards want the jugular.

Yes, I'm leaning on the Cards. I'll post the advanced stats for both pitchers in a thread even if I don't have a wager on the game. Check the forums later this morning.
