LIVE BET, bottom 1, CWS 2 - 1, none on, none out: CWS -241 @pinn
I have Dodgers with about +0.2 run edge. Obviously Dodgers have the better offense. But it's also clear that Padres send up a modestly better starter who is backed up by a stronger pen. In a similar situation Friday, Padres won 7 - 1, but lost Saturday when the strength on the mound was reversed.
This may set up for a "value bet" on Padres particularly if the line moves up more, but I'm undecided on playing it...

Tough to judge this one because of the intense rivalry. No team - and a GOOD ONE! - just tamely submits to being swept in 4 by a clearly weaker opponent (entering the series, that is) But timing is everything and the Yankees are in a batting slump while BoSox are getting the hits and runs in past 3 games facing GOOD Yankee starters backed up by their SOLID bullpen!
It's defying logic, which unfortunately has been the norm the past two weeks! And what's more frustrating is it can turnaround at any moment! ![]()
BoSox should have the edge, though. I have BoSox with a reasonable edge on the mound and - if we are to assume the Yankee batting slump continues, and they don't choose tonight to break out - then BoSox are better at the plate too!... all told my capping is suggesting an edge for Boston of ~ +0.8 runs to +1.1 runs and getting a real cheap line ta boot!
But herein lies the problem.....it's lining up to be "logical" for a BoSox win (ie, too good to be true)
It relies on assumptions (guesses??) that the NYY slump continues and the BoSox continue batting ABOVE normal expectation for them. The pens look closely matched and GRAY has the pitching edge for sure IF HE DOESN'T HAVE A BAD DAY - like Dylan Cease did yesterday!!!
How do we accurately predict if a starter is going to have a bad day?!?
Normally I would bet BoSox here. But my past two weeks would suggest that solid edge would disappear into a coin-flipper and I would likely lose this "logical" bet. So I am NOT betting it, and NOT suggesting it as a pick for anyone. I've seen just as many "logical" bets fall as I have seen win the last 2 weeks and PASS is my stance...
BoL fellas whatever you decide . . . though I'd guess the forum is likely split.
