Post thoughts on trades for companies with earnings in the next month..
Include any price targets, options views, earnings thoughts...anything relating to making some coin with earnings.
I see that INTC got hit, not enough juice there to make any scratch.
In my view the way to play earnings is on higher beta stocks who have prices high enough that they will move one way or the other with the earnings hit or miss..

The smartest play might be to go long the calls or puts for August if we think the move is muted for expiry..or go deep in the money on both sides and look for a reasonable but smaller return.
Sorry about IBM, I will never play that stock..my hatred for IBM goes back 10 yrs in the market..

550 put w/ 560 call but debit of $2400 seems kind of steep.
I would rather do this but can't:
Sell goog short and buy the 550 calls, seems like it would work better.
I'm gonna sit this one out, I just cant beleive the price of these premiums. Even something as ridiculous as even seeing volume on the 630's 640's 650's 100 points out of the money and expire in 2 days is mind boggleing.!!

I might toss in a small straddle for action later tomorrow if the stock is flat or near a strike and the premium starts getting sucked out.
You do any others this earnings cycle? I think next week will be bigger and we will have more candidates.
I wanted to comment on your list..we need stocks over 30 bucks, preferably over 50 with high betas..these stocks like INTC and JNPR etc make lousy straddles because you need 15% moves to even break a profit..not worth it.

I think we talked about ffiv last time and missed it.
By the way, check out TINY. Pretty interesting along the lines of the Nanos you were talking about yesterday. This company buys them up and has a "portfolio" of them. Pretty cool.

TINY is my favorite NANO pure play..I watch it from time to time and in fact I am positive I have said more than once that TINY is my top nano play compared to others like NGEN or ALTI etc..
I think our discussion earlier is about solar nanos which are very rare and I tried searching last week with very little luck, but I have been busy this week and havent had the chance to get around to it.
FFIV is a definate play, as AMZN at this price level..as is RIMM at this price level..we need to get cracking, next week is when things start to take off..
Tough thing with TINY is they arent making money and at 500k they will need to float in the future..stock really sucking wind lately, but at 2X book it is probably safe to dip your toe in the water.
