0-for-1 on Sunday, with MAKART going off @ 19/1 odds but running poorly and finishing off the board. Honorable mention ROTKNEE won the race easily at even-money.
Saratoga - Race 1
#3 EMMA'S WALTZ (6/1 ml)
2yo firster for James Chapman worked 3 times in a row (all from the gate) with KAVOD, who won at Belmont on April 23 before running second in the Tremont Stakes on June 4 (close second behind heavy favorite OVERBORE, who I've profiled here before). EMMA'S WALTZ later worked at Belmont with SAUCY LADY T, who won at Belmont on April 25 (a couple of days after KAVOD) before later running third in the Schuylerville Stakes on Opening Day (July 15). Also interesting to note that this horse is owned by the trainer (James Chapman), so that gives him a little added incentive here. One other point of interest, SAUCY LADY T was ridden to that 5-length debut win by Jose Ortiz, who gets the mount here as well. Appears live at the nice price.
2021 Saratoga meet:
Win record: 4-for-18 (22%)
Total mutuels: $40.20 ($10.05 average)
