Question about trifecta payout

Hi everyone,

This will be a silly question for many of you, but I am fairly new to horse betting so I have a question about today's payout.

I use bookmaker as my site.  I did the 0.10 trifecta bet, and spent about $120 (keyed a few horses obviously) on the ticket.

I see the $1 tri payout is around $1700, so shouldn't the 0.10 bet be worth around $170?  My winnings ended up at $50 which seems low.

Is it because the more horses you key, the more the payout is sliced?

Or maybe bookmaker pays out less because of some weird rule on their site.

Some sites have a max payout for each type of bet. Some track payoffs especially on the derby could pay $100,000 or more and these sites can't pay that type of money so they cap it.
