Yes, everybody's "right" is guaranteed by the laws of America, but should you still be allowed to collect a paycheck on it? Do I need to bring up Kaepernick's checks he collected from companies with "questionable" racist backgrounds like Nike, etc., that he didn't "sit down" for? This topic has already been discussed "ad nauseum", no need to open old wounds.....

Like I said a long time ago, Muhammad Ali he is not. NOT willing to "fight" for his "cause" (whatever that is) That's the difference.....

What, that I wrote, are you evrn disagreeing with. You make no sense. My whole point, which was stated pretty clearly, was that while it's Kap's right to protest it's also any given teams right to not hire him because playing in the NFL is not a right, it's a privilege. And that it stands as a lesson to the youth that while there are many rights afforded you, exercising those rights has consequences. What's even debatable about that? You're going off into talk about Nike and such, these that have nothing to do with what I said. Are you just being a contrarian?

I think we're both in agreement about his talents and his right to protest, and the NFL teams rights to cut him and/or not hire him. My main issue with Kaepernick is that not only was his "protest" misguided, I honestly feel that (at least partly) his stupid girlfriend kind of pushed him into it. Had he never met this Nessa chick, I don't think he would've even "protested" in the first place! I'm sure if you got him alone with no cameras (or girlfriend) and ask him if he regrets the whole protest thing, he'd probably say yes. Especially now that no one's hiring him.....

Also, doesn't help when his girlfriend posts crap like this:

You do realize we received the right to vote long before MLK? The whole voting really illustrates how much of a rebel without a cause this guy is. If he really wanted to make a difference he would speak to the youth about the importance of being politically active and voting. Instead he took a knee....silently. Wow, Kaep, you're really fighting the fight.

Misguided. Great summation. The sad thing is Kap is a smart kid but he's notba leader. He's very introverted. He's a small town boy and he got wrapped up in something so much bigger than him. I called him a rebel without a cause in an above post. He's fighting this fight and not only is he going about it the wrong way, he's not even concise about what he's fighting for. If you're as big as Kap, literally and figuratively, you can't start taking knees and not be able to back it up with words. Not retweets. Actual speaking to the public. He didn't. So instead of a crusader for civil rights, he's a joke who disrespected his country. He couldn't have found a nice white girl like most black athletes? Joking.

MY Grandfather was a US History/Politics Professor ( WW2 VET)  ... he used to TEST me all day on What he thought was IMPORTANT...

I agree...........Kap would be playing football had he not met his girlfriend.....It was her that sent the tweet depicting Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti as a slave owner...This was one of the owners showing interest in him........Dont think Kap would have attacked and offended as many people as he has had he not met this chick...

How can you insult an owner like Biscotti who supports activism, who had a black GM he hired and expect to be signed by another owner?

Why is the NFL and its owners under attack?   Why is it if you are pro Kapernick you also must be anti - NFL owners?

I dont think this will get Kap a job though....

I dont think he ever crossed the line for good until the Steve Bisciotti / Ray Rice attack.......That has to be really hard to overlook.

I remember hearing about a boycott against the NFL regarding Michael Sam a couple years back......It lost steam pretty quick.

I think the problem is most people think the NFL owes Kap something. The NFL is a job. If you're just ok at my job (lets face it, saying hes "ok" is being nice) AND I make my coworkers take on extra work (media questions, internal turmoil etc) AND I make my bosses look bad AND I disrespect a large group of people (as many see his kneeling as disrespectful) AND I lose my company money (I dont have numbers, but no way 49ers stock is up)......

Not sure what people dont get. I loved watching KAP in college and the 1st couple years with the 9ers.....Dude was electric. Then, his hair and ego got bigger while his game and body shrank (he lost 30ish pounds he didnt have to lose).....He isnt a playoff caliber QB. Could he ride the bench somewhere as a 3rd stringer? Sure, hes got experience. So do a ton of guys that arent gonna bring INSTANT DRAMA..... Who needs that in their life?

Yep, Kap is 1/2 black. Not sure how that makes him a victim here....He had a job making millions playing a game. He made his choices. Not sure why he cant live with them.....

My friend said its BS Kap cant/wont get signed.....He gave me all the normal stuff about how is decent and being blackballed....I said fine....If he got signed and was going to start on any team, would you want him on your fantasy team as the ONLY QB you had?


Crickets. Thought so. If the dude could still ball at a high level he would have been picked up in a second. Nobody wants or needs a semi has been that brings drama and baggage.....

I wish common sense would come back. It was pretty cool.

His response to the Baltimore Ravens (the only NFL team to show serious interest) and Ray Lewis in particicular, buried any chance of Kap returning to the NFL..

If I recall correctly, he was the first player to be fined for calling an opposing player a N*gger.

He has no street cred as far as I'm concerned.  Just another elitist player using his stardom to influence others of police brutality that he's never seen first-hand.  

Phuck Kap. Eazy-E would call him a Fake @ss Studio gangstah, ; even though football players have nothing to do with a recording studio.

What a bunch of reactionary drivel in this discussion. Being rich means you can't be disgusted by the society around you? It is refreshing that an athlete IS disgusted in an open fashion. Oh lord, he took a knee to protest police brutality. What a traitor! You guys talk about SJWs a lot, which is very humorous. That such a tepid action draws you guys so far offside is telling. Then, the inevitable misogyny occurs with the "stupid girlfriend" pablum. And this is a gambling forum! He can be disgusted if he wants, he can protest any way he chooses but when you aren't a top level talent no team has to sign him.
