if we played against sue bird diana tarsi maya moore they would destroy us. You guys got to think those chicks are in the gym just as much as we are of course we are going to be bigger than them. These chicks arent like chicks we see every day 120 130 these chicks are built and could probably bench 150 to 200 pounds.

You could take the best players off any Division-III FOOTBALL team in the country and I would bet every dime I had on those guys beating the girls.

You using officials?  You know how much traveling and ticky-tack fouls that go on in pick-up games? With officials out there to call that, the women being more fundamentally sound would have a huge advantage

I apologize if this thread (or a version of it) was brought up sometime over the last few years...I must have missed it.

But, seriously, my biggest pet peeve about these forums are the a-holes that come into a thread just to say "This thread was brought 2 years ago". If you're not interested because you've seen it before, then don't stop in.

I believe the votes are at:

Men: 13
Women 10

It's actually much closer than I anticipated.
I would love to actually play this out. I think it could be a great documentary

normally I'd agree with you on your peeve, but in this instance, everyone just wants the classic thread to be brought back to the top of the forum.  it was a great one.  i don't think anyone has bashed your thread

there were several people on that old thread that were vehemently in the Uconn Women's favor.  saying the chicks would beat random guys by 50

I will put UCONN up against Simeon High School of Chicago (#1 HS team in the USA TODAY poll) and Simeon will win by 40 points with 4 D-1 futures on the team.

Agreed.  If you got a group of YMCA guys that were decent high school players and still played somewhat often in pick up games, they would crush.

But I could pick the best 10 of my friends and they couldn't handle Uconn IMO.

Just talked to a guy who played high school ball and he thinks that the Uconn women could actually beat most high school teams.

Maybe so for your friends.

No 5"10" 140 lbs. girl would be doing anything against ten of my team.

I guess you have to define who is on the team for the guys.

Of course the best high school teams would beat the women. But, a lot of these kids are gonna play college hoops. I don't consider them Average Joes.

Fellas, let me simplify this for you:

You have to pick 10 of your friends. You can't go recruiting awesome athletes from the YMCA or from high school teams.

Think of all your friends. Now think of the 10 that you would want on your team. This would be a team of "Average Joes"

After getting in shape and training together for several months, Can you and your 10 buddies beat the UCONN women's team?

I would lay -110 on the fact that they could beat 85-90% of the Varsity HS boys basketball teams in the country. Fact.
