Who wants to play Dr. Phil for me? Here's the situation, it is the ex girlfriends birthday coming up this weekend. We haven't dated in about 6 months (my fault) but she recently got a new boyfriend. They have dated for about 3-4 months, however, we still talk from time to time and she knows I miss her and still want her back. As I said her birthday is coming up this weekend and I had the idea to send her some of her favorite flowers. Good idea or a bad idea?

bad idea...because nothing is accomplished sounds like you f'd up....you want her back more than she wants you......so simple note...."sorry ........wish we could be together.....".......kinda thing ...is plenty
OR.....if you feel their relationship is weak anyway...and you've got a shot.....be aggressive......do something huge....flowers ain't enough

I would also like to add something to this thread. Many men, especially younger ones, seem to think when an ex says "we can still be friends" that means you still have a chance. In reality, what it really means is she can call you when her car breaks down, when she needs a shoulder to cry on, etc. Only in the rarest of circumstances does it benefit you. You don't have to remain friends to get a booty call, she obviously knows your phone number. If you really just want to be friends, it usually takes time + you should have no illusions of it being anything but friendship. Just my thoughts

There's only one way to get this broad back and that would be to show her no interest....or bang a few of her friends...once she see's your on peoples to do list she will come back wondering why she let you go....and why your not sitting around waiting for her....Never ever do the roses thing it only makes you look and seem extremly weak and vulnerable...just my 2 cents

GOOSE, as your "wingman" I have several different approaches that may work:
1. if she "knows you miss her" then keep your difference and let her come to you, if she still likes you, she will come back. Don't let her know she has the upper hand, she will play that card all the way out.
2. Simply call her and tell her Happ B-Day. If you don't get her, do not leave a message, just by the call she will know you were thinking about her.
3. Waste the money on flowers....she throws them away in an attempt to hide them like previously stated, but atleast she still knows your trying.
4. Stalk her. Follow her around all the time and pop up when she least expects it. Nothing says " I love you" like a restraining order...at least you will know she took the time to think about you.
5. Smash her best friend...once the friend tells her what she did, then your ex will remember what she is missing and call you again...
6. Get her candy and bracelets...and by that I mean "roofies and duct tape"...this will tell her your CRAZY about her, and she won't be able to "Say No"
7. Get 50 pds. of "quick crete", a bucket and a buddy with a boat. Take her boy friend fishing...She will become lonely after he does not return and will start calling you again...
DR.'s Orders:
What ever you decide, think it thru over a bottle of Jack at your local "watering hole"...chances are after a few drinks you forget about her and score with someone else....repeat as necessary...
