Pros and Cons of moving to San Diego....
Never needed to work there though. That's the only thing you'd have to figure out. Other than that the place is perfect.
Wanna open up an underground poker room? (popcorn dude)

If fishing is your gig I'd suggest checking out the NW. There's great salt & fresh water fishing up here........but the weather is marginal at best & it's very expensive.
Mugg is spot on -Grew up in Seattle and now live in S california 22 years.
No go on La jolla my opinion. Los Angeles you have a shot on employment. Until Los Angeles recovers, San Diego will sit in the basement.![]()

Currently living in Tempe, but I plan on selling my place out here and moving to San Diego within the next year. My grandma lived in La Jolla up until a year ago when she retired to Vermont and I would visit every summer. I fell in love with the place. It has everything I'm looking for. Ocean, fishing, good weather, good party scene, golf, sexy woman, etc. My grandma and uncle who used to live there don't think its a good idea to move there. They think its way too expensive and kind of going down the shitter. Hard to find good jobs, etc. What do you guys think? My friends who live in new york and are pondering the move also use the rational it can;t be pricier than NY as their main argument. They are probably right but just because both are ridiculously pricey to live in doesn't make it smart. Are there good suburbs close by san diego that are affordable with a few roommates. How's the job market and is cali's economy gonna rebound?

I don't get why you guys knock Mess on here. He brings up a lot of valid life situations that allows us to debate them or add our 2 cents to those threads.
It's actually refreshing to read threads that may, in the past or in the future, have an impact on my life or I may have a similar situation.
Mess, all I can say is I moved to Orange County last August(quit my job to go back to school) from a shit hole desert town I was living/working in. Cost of living sucks and it definitely affects the social life because I can't go out nearly as much. However every thing else is a lot better. Weather is beautiful and I just enjoy being outside more often then ever before.
If you don't mind the heat I would probably stay in AZ unless you are absolutely losing your mind there. I can't say I know Phoenix well because I have only been there for one weekend but it seemed pretty cool. 4 pro sports teams and ASU within a reasonable drive. Casino's and a quality social scene(at least from what I witnessed) added to that and that is pretty much what I am looking for. Obviously the lack of fishing is a problem and that seems like a big deal for you.
I love San Diego and would live there in a heart beat if given the right circumstance. I don't think I would just move there on a whim. I have known a couple of different people who have done that through out my 20's and the results are pretty mixed. Some end up staying but have to share bedrooms because of the cost of living. Others have ended up moving back to where they came from because of cost of living.
I would say do it if you are able to plan everything out, especially if your boys are on board with it. I don't think they will feel the cost shock as much.
Nothing wrong with trying it out for a year or two and moving after that. I would say it's better to try it and have it not work out than to wonder "what if". Just do it with a plan and not on a whim.

I just reread my previous post as realized I contradicted myself quite a bit there! lol.
I say fuck it and move if your boys are on board with it. If not, Tempe/Phoenix isn't a bad spot to be in....minus the heat.
