look, to those guys who say soccer is boring, the fact remains any sport can be boring when its played by teams...
 
- who suck
- who take a negative gameplan into a contest
- who would rather not be playing that day
 
When soccer is played by those with skill and flair, and who play with a passion for wanting to be out there, its as good as anything going.
 
Anyone who saw the Brazil-Italy match or the France- West Germany match at the 1982 Soccer world cup would be converted for life. 2 more amazing games in any sport I have not witnessed.

South American soccer I'll watch, but English soccer is like watching two guys fish. Gorgeous futbol it is along with ball movement/control but I really need a dime wager and an 8 ball to get through EP.

I always thought soccer was fun, but never got much into it, except for the world cup.
 
I pretty much like all sports the US has to offer to some level.
 
Then I studied abroad in Italy.
 
I cannot, and I repeat CANNOT explain how intensely crazy it is over there for the Italian league. It makes the Yankees Sox games look like NOTHING. I got so into it. Its unexplainable unless you are there to see it. Places just SHUT DOWN for their teams. People just gather in bars to watch, go nuts etc. Its almost like if your team is in the World Series, NBA finals or whatever and everyone around just goes nuts. Thats the only way to describe it, but its all season long.
 
Its the best. Since then I haven't really gotten back into soccer, I guess because not many people here like it, but I definitely tune into the WCUP, but in all MLS just doesnt have the excitement to me. Its boring.
 
For america to get into it, people need to be surrounded by it etc. Its a great sport, but its something that will have to trigger it, unfortunately it wont, as the major players will play in Europe, not here as a whole.

I understand how people can say soccer is boring. We in America never get to watch the good teams play soccer so. I like almost all sports, i like watching soccer but when its good teams(anyone but north American teams) otherwise it can be very slow and boring. Dont forget what most Americans think baseball is boring too, i love it but i grew up on it. Just look at the playoff tv ratings and world series ratings and that will prove my point. Basketball is getting better but thats because people in other countries are starting to pay attention to it. Football really is the only sport that gets a lot of attention here. So really most of Americans dont even like their own sports. If most of the world loves soccer maybe there is a reason for that. I think those who think its boring should either go to a game in Europe or just watch one of those games, that will change your mind. Smartest thing said in this thread "You weren’t raised on it and you will never like it, but don’t be so fucking ignorant."  We Americans tend to be too ignorant sometimes.

So, you are admitting you are gay!  If you have friends that would actually watch Soccer over almost any other sport but especially over Football, Baseball, Basketball or Hockey - I Don't get it!

I love the world cup, watched it last summer and it was great. Thats about it though. I can't get into the mls shit. I have spent some time in south america and people are freaks about soccer. It is more popular than football is here. Tough to believe I know but true.

if you actually read what i wrote then you would understand. Thus the ignorant thing comes into play again. I wouldnt watch it over football or baseball, maybe basketball cause i have to watch the warriors all the time but i would watch any soccer game over any Hockey game cause 1) there are too many breaks 2) its not fast enough 3) i dont know any of the players. If it was olympic hockey then i would watch that. soccer is gay! if you watch the NHL youre the biggest gay who ever gayed. Thats a sport that is almost the same and is covered the same in america, never on network television.

I have to inform you that hockey without question is the hardest skilled sport to play, without a doubt. Skating alone is difficult, let alone being crafty with the puck, passing, stick handling, throwing a hit etc etc.  No one can justify that another sport takes as much motor skill as hockey, especially if they have never skated before. 
 
 
I take it you have never played hockey or have seen a game live.  The speed in hockey is absolutely explosive. If you have only seen a hockey on television, you are totally misguided, because the play seems a lot slower on t.v.   Go to an arena and watch a professional game, you will be amazed how fast the players.  To state that soccer if faster than hockey, is incorrect.

Woop, make sure that you lock your bedroom door before you go to sleep.

This won't help much, but don't worry about girls coming over to your house, because they won't if you have soccer on your main tv.

At least you won't be embarrassed by having to explain why it's on your tv.
