I feel exactly how you described it in your paragraph. I keep going back and forth between quitting/continuing. I want to gamble a little more to try and win my 1400 back, but i know that if i win i will just want to gamble more. Worst part about it is, im going to a nets game this week, and i feel almost forced to put a bet on it. I feel like i wont even enjoy the game really if i dont have money on it.
Also i dont know why i feel like i know how to gamble the right way. I feel like i could set a bankroll and bet 2-5% and stick to it. This is what is keeping me from quitting. The thought of me doing something i enjoy and making a little money from it on the side. This is what is keeping me from quitting. If you are disciplined..I dont see how betting 2-5% could end in a disatrous way. Unless you get really irresponsible. Which i keep telling myself i wont.
Anyway, My parents told me there taking me to see a therapist soon, so i guess thats good. I am very confused. I really must need help

As ive stated before in some of my previous posts i am 17. I just lost 1400 to a bookie after chasing my losses.
My parents dont even know about this but after seeing my recent report card, and knowing my gambling habits for the past few years. They have decided to take me to a ga meeting.
I keep telling them im not going, but they keep telling me that i have no choice.
My parents said they will be in a seperate room from me, so il be in a room with all the other gamblers im guessing.
Do i share my stories about this bookie i lost 1400 to?..I still dont want my parents finding out. I dont know what i should do. Should i go?
well as long you are living under your parents house you need to listen to them or you will be kicked out of the house and then you'll end up sleeping inside the salvation army in one room with all the homeless snoring !! ![]()

you are way to young to have a gambling addiction. I started gambling heavy in my late 20's but already had a Masters Degree and first major job under my belt.
WAIT until after college to gamble. Betting leads to watching tons of games, stress, lack of motivation, etc. Soon you will be finding less time for your studies. and presto, you start getting bad grades which could very easily make you a drop out.

I really dont want to stop gambling either. Every now and then i would like to place a wager on a game.
I dont know what to do!
Grab a big bag of cheese puffs, down multiple sodas and bet every NBA favorite tonight. Then watch the losers come in with your mom and dad, and have a big group hug while you ask them for more money to feed your disease.

do i be completely honest with my therapist and tell her about the 1400 im down?..even though i still dont want my parents finding out
First thing you need to learn is STOP LYING!!! whether to yourself or to your parents that love you.. Do you think they will figure it out when some guys show up at your house and run a tire iron in your ass??? You cant lie/deceive/hide/not tell them.. be honest with them so they can help relieve your stress.

Bro,
I would not quit right away. You will be back. Learn how to manage the bank. I have been gambling since I was 15 myself. I had a lot of fun with girls and drinking and gambling. On top of that, I managed to get a full ride scholarship.
I have a choice with my money. I can drink, I can smoke, I can go watch a movie, I can go out and eat at expensive places. I rather drop 20 bucks a week as entertainment. I always bet 25% ($5). Believe it or not I have gotten those $20 turn into a lot more. Like always, a precentage always goes back
I would go to the meetings and learn from others. You are still young. Learning from others mistakes is one of the smartest things to do.
Its like anything else you can get addicted to. If you learn how to manage it correctly, then its not a problem. If you find yourself wanting more after a game is over, or not sleeping over a bet. Then there is a problem. Only you know what you want. At the end try to help yourself.

Lets recap: 17 years old, into a bookie deep, lies to parents, goes to GA, and sees a therapist. Add a steel guitar and you could write for George Strait.
You keep throwing out 2-3% and 2-5% as a safety net... 2% of what? If this $1400 put you into the diving board end of the pool, then you cant afford 2%. 2% of 1400 is $28. Will your streeter let you wager $30 a game?
If a bank roll to you is $200, then you're a $5 a game guy. Who are you? A member of the Luniz? Operation Stackola? If you can't watch the effin Nets without puttin five on it, you need to go to some local skate board shop and pick out the poser. Cause everyone here is lookin at you holding you Washingtons and Lincolns rolled up in a rubber band.
Pull your damn pants up, tell mom and dad your sorry, and learn to play an instrument!!

I just feel like if you do sports gambling the right way, you could make some money on the side with it. Thats whats holding me back. Kingkappy hits almost 60% of his nba picks on the season. Lets say i saved up $1,000 from work and put it on betjamaica. Lets now say i gambled 2-5% of my balance. 2% would be $20 a game. If i just tailed kappys plays every night. Wouldnt i be making money in the end?
Now obviously i would have to stay disciplined towards this, but am i wrong here?
