I'm glad to see that most agree. I expected it.
The thing is, there are many that don't use illicit drugs and I know this is a fact. Also, there are too many other factors as to why they need help, and drugs are only a small part of the equation. Some don't have transportation, some aren't qualified for anything, some have mental illness, some are disabled, some don't want/need a job (or feel they don't), some are just lazy. How does a single mother of four get a job and raise children? Some are going to school and need help until they graduate. You start drug testing and you'll get what Florida got. More paperwork, more debt for the state, and no results. Instead of helping the situation, it just makes it worse.
It's not the drugs that are the problem, it's the peoples' mind set, their health issues, or their situation. IF the person lies around and smokes weed all day, and IF the drug testing makes her stop, then she's just going to lie around and drink beer all day. If she doesn't want to work, she won't. Drug testing won't all the sudden motivate her to change her life. It won't accomplish anything. Ask Florida.
And you're right thirdperson... it is unconstitutional. ![]()
