I would say that 75% of the buzz around the internet has been in the driver's favor. I do think that if the woman didn't get back up(I still have no clue how she did so quickly) that this incident would not be as accepted.
Do I think that he should have did it? No. Was it wrong? Yes
I've been in arguments with my wife and other females many times throughout my life, but they also were not strangers who spit on me and attacked me.
This girl here pushed it too far. She initiated the entire thing. There is actually a longer video from a different angle that shows her verbally bashing the driver for much longer before she attacks him.
She also put the lives of the passengers in danger by attacking a man who is driving them around.
This all comes down to what is a fair 'tit-for-tat' return after the push.
This girl pushed the man. Mind you, this is a teen. This can be simply handled by stopping the bus after pulling over and calling the police. The police will remove her and she the bus will be on its way.
Unfortunately, like many here, you think it is a legitimate return of force to uppercut a teenage girl (the age and gender matter here) in return for pushing a bus driver and verbally harassing him.
I do not dispute the danger that is involved with touching a bus driver while he is driving but the verbal confrontation can be handled by simply ignoring the other person. Everyone knows arguments escalate when insults become harsher and voices are raised. Still it was wrong on her part to continue to verbally jab with him.
If she's going to jail, like he says, then call the police. Don't uppercut her to allegedly subdue her and then call the police to have her arrested. That is not the way you handle things as a worker or a man, especially when dealing with a teenage girl who feels she is the center of the universe.
I also will say the person who continued to tape the incident and the people getting a big laugh out of all this in that video, like the members of this thread are borderline inhuman.

Scalabrine, that "teen" girl is 25 years old, so your post is somewhat irrelevant.
Right because that justifies the uppercut on a woman. Because a 25 year old woman is that much stronger and less vulnerable than a teenage girl (who could be less than 6 years younger).

The bus driver is 59 years old. She spit on him. That is considered an assault. When a person is assaulted they have a right to defend themselves from further assault.
All news accounts I find say the driver has been suspended but not terminated at this point in time.
