* unless you have definitive evidence that the dog was indeed suffering.....and that there was NO HOPE......and that the owner was selfishly keeping the animal around for their own use...best to stay out dontcha think ?......since the animal can't talk...the owner has to "speak" for them...he obviously thought that his dog probably wanted to hang with him as long as possible..... rather than be executed....that's his call.....PERIOD

gutcheck,  the amount of shit you are getting in here is absurd.  you qualified your statement, stating it is a sensitive issue, which it is.

i'm not saying the original poster did the wrong thing.  but if that question didn't even go through his head then something is wrong with the OP and not gutcheck.

I am truly sorry for you. Back in December i had to put down my 3.5 year old Boxer due to kidney failure. I still have trouble going in + out of the front door because she was always right behind me and never left my side. It gets better with time, but damn almighty it's rough.      Hang tough

Sorry about your loss. Dealt with the same thing 2.5 years ago with Ziggy and I know how you feel.

Sorry for your loss. My Westie is a cancer survivor and I thank God for allowing me to catch it in time to give her a shot. I couldn't live with not trying to save her (if it was possible). You did your best and extended his/her life, you're to be commended. Like all losses you somehow learn to live with it but I know it's extremely painful. Something about our pets that touch us like nothing else. I wish you the best.

Sorry for your loss.  I had to put my last dog and my last cat down.  My cat is buried in the flowers right outside my computer room window.  So far, no new pets.  Good luck to you.

Sorry for your loss. But don't shut yourself away from getting another pet. You will know when it's time. There are many, many, animals that need your love/care/attention to get out of a cage and into a loving home. When your heart is healed and big enough.........

I'm sorry, smalltime.  Have a 14 year old cat, who is still doing good, but for how long. Gonna be a horrible day when it comes.....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

my dog had successful cancer surgery a few years back & happy to say he is healthier then ever!  it was the hardest decision to make at the time cuz the doctor still didnt think that would work!  for a split second i thought about putn him down but i began to cry & realized how much i love him & how much i would miss him!  I TOOK A LONG SHOT,  BUT IT WAS THE BEST BET I EVER MADE!
