After a year and a half battle with cancer, I had to go through the toughest thing I have ever had to do, by putting my dog to sleep. I know I don't post a lot but was just looking for some support from my fellow dog lovers and covers brothers.
Thats very sad, and I understand how difficult that it had to have been. Take care......You did the right thing if it got to that point.

So sorry for your loss, i have had to do it a few times now and it indeed is one of the hardest things you will ever do in life.
You will always have your memories you had with your dog, thats one thing that can never be taken from you.
Take care and God bless

RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, valleys with lush green grass
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this special place There is always food and water and warm spring weather
The old and frail are young again Those who are maimed are made whole again
They play all day with each other There is only one thing missing
They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up !
The nose twitches ! The ears are up ! The eyes are staring ! And this one suddenly runs from the group !
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated

My condolences smalltime. I just got a shih tzu pup a few months ago, my first dog I ever had. I could just imagine what you are going through right now. It's heartbreaking to lose something you become so attached to.
Hang tough my man.

Some folks do not realize how big a role the dog has played in your life.
I do. I know that my dog means the world to me.
Im sorry for your loss and hope you keep your head up.
While no dog will be an easy replacement - eventually there will be a dog for you. Im sure you will have a new bond and a new personality that you will love.
I wish you all the best in these tought times.

I am sorry about your loss. Just last year lost my Aussie Sheppard to illness at 8 yrs old and my cat while in good health ,she is 15. Very painful to lose animals as they are to me a shining light that always makes me smile.Take care and best wishes.

My buddy had a cat who was 18....she just couldn't walk any longer. He has ZERO money so he called me up and asked if I could help. I met him at the vet and he had to bring her in a gym bag. Was the first time I was in the room when a pet had to be put down. I will admit I cried like a little baby, but I'm glad I stayed with her during her final minutes.
It was extremetly quick and quite peaceful. Makes you feel a bit better when there is no choice in the matter. She had a full life and didn't suffer much at the end. That's all you can ask.
By the way, my props to the vets everywhere who care for our pets. AMAZING people. Talk about doing a job you love. I wish I had that much passion for my job.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy losing a pet.

Sorry for your loss, most awful thing you ever have to do.
I think of my dogs everyday. Still not up up getting another one even 13 months after I lost my last one
NJ-
A gal I go to for massage has 2 cats. She's always been a cat owner....she has lost them in the past and she said she goes out and gets one immediately if one of hers dies. Sounds kind of crass, but she said, "the best way for me to honor a great pet is to go provide a great home for another pet." Her philosophy is that she is capable of giving a cat that needs a home a good home......why not do that?
I also understand that everyone grieves differently. But I honestly think I would be OK getting another cat when our oldest moves on (which she is probably praying to do because the black on on the left terrorizes her on a daily basis ).

I feel for ya. I had a shelty mixed with shepherd.. We were in kentucky maryland back to kentucky germany georgia and back to maryland. Practically I grew up with this dog from 2nd grade til i graduated. She was about 18 and we had to put her down. She started to lose her bowels. It was one of the hardest things in my life. I held her while they put her to sleep. I cried and cried. Now I have a German shepherd which will be 13 on st patricks day. I dread the day she goes. We do everything together. Where I go she goes and where I am she is. Oh and she loves beer. This past christmas I got her a porterhouse steak and for her birthday probably the same thing. Just dont know how long shes got. So buddy I feel for ya and best of luck.
