Amazing it worked for me had jury duty this week and by using this suggestion I completed my jury obligation without a hitch.

I will let you know if this works for me. I just got a summons today. I currently live in Nevada.
My reporting date is 10/30/18
It says to call in after 6PM the night before which would be 10/29.
Just to clarify I would call in at 11:50PM the night of 10/29, and then again 10 minutes before it tells me to on the following day 10/30 if it asks me?

Unless it's a Public Defender the defendant is normally represented by a firm with at least 3 names sometimes 6. You know..........

It's been awhile but they asked me a question like "any reason u shouldn't be on the jury"? Even if they don't ask make sure to say to the Judge
"My exwife and I had a real estate deal with issues back when I was married and I think the other side was represented by DidIt or something like that. Do you do Real Estate Mr DidIt?"
The next sound you hear will be the technical term for Not You!

I know a juror who said "I am not prejudiced. I like both hebes and n***". I got out because I told them I was friends with one of the lawyer's son. Which was true. I got out once by contacting my legalshield attorney and they told me what to do, but where they really help is with traffic tickets and other legal or court issues. If anyone needs help with that, I can give you my email or website, if that is allowed on here.

Got called several years ago, I observed that call ups who appeared to want to be picked were turned down whereas the ones didn't want to be picked got chosen (I was one who didn't want to be there). I thought if I ever get called again I will act all gung-ho about it but the opportunity has not come up to test theory

Does this work in California? I live in Stanislaus County if that matters?
Anyway, my summon date is Feb 5th. I am required to call the automated system after 5:00 pm the day before which is a Monday. If I understand this correctly, I need to call at 4:50 pm (10 minutes prior) and the system should put me on standby? If it requires I call again the next day after 12:00 pm noon, call at 11:50 am to be excused?

fwiw - in Erie county NY. Just don't reply at all to the jury summons. A friend has a few Sherrifs in his family and they all say that they NEVER follow up on people who don't reply to the mailing by calling in.
I got out of it when I was in my 20s by wearing a shirt from a local MC shop that said "Some people are alive simply because it's against the law to kill them". I was home by noon that day.

fwiw - in Erie county NY. Just don't reply at all to the jury summons. What a coincidence, I just got a call for jury duty in the mail last week, after 48 years without getting one.
The way I ducked out of it is to prevaricate (lie) about my minor misdemeanor and pretend it was a felony. If they check and get the accurate record , I'll just simply tell them it happened so long ago (15 years) I forgot that I was only charged with a minor misdemeanor and I answered the online application wrong 
but I doubt they even bother to check..

U r a Godsend!. This really works. I live in Florida. I had a jury duty summons for two weeks starting on February 4th. It stated to call after 5:30 pm the day before to find out if I needed to report the next day. Each night, I called between 11:45-11:50 pm. The automated system would say that I am on call but no jury has been selected and to continue calling nightly. Tonight, it said that my term of service is complete and that the court and judges thank me for performing my civic duty ??????????. DriverRon, you are a hero in my book ??

I know your post is 15 years old and the last reply to this was in 2019, but I created an account just to say thank you. I had to report for jury duty between 19:00 and 06:00 the next day, so I called last minute at 05:55 and the automated system dismissed me from the jury pool and absolved me of any obligations. It's possible that I just lucked out, but your advice seemingly does work since others have had positive experiences following it.
I'm in the middle of a big move (abroad), layered with a ton of appointments and tying up loose ends when this jury duty nonsense arrived. I've never been summoned for jury duty in my life and the timing makes it seem like it was done just to cause extra burden, especially since the court dismissed the excuse I sent previously notifying them of my moving plans.
