Jim Mitchell had "three-to-make-two" (yes, it was that far back) and only made one, that lazy cur. I lost it all by half a point, $1100 was a fortune then, I was making $13/hr. at the time. My worst beat in sports gambling. I quit playing for a while.

No, shit, sometimes I wake up and can't believe I'm in my 30s. I look at college-aged people and say to myself, "Holy shit, did I really look that young at that age?"
At least, I don't look like I'm in my 30s. Been applying retinoids at night to prevent acne since 16 and wearing a sunscreen-based moisturizer since...oh, wait, the subject is about coping.
I've been doing this since 2002, and what I learned after taking some initial losses is that I can only approach this as entertainment and not a means for generating income. If you risk your life savings on gambling, you need to re-evaluate your approach to life. My goal every football season (and 95% of my gambling is on football) is that I hope to end up at least a $1,000 in the black which considering my average bet is $100 (or $110) is feasible. In addition, I do two or three parlays and two or three MLs every weekend.
When I lose, like on that garbage TD with seconds left in the Miami/Texas A & M which put the game over, I'm initially deflated, then take a deep breath and go "eh". On the flip side, things go your way often, like when Florida State didn't kick that field goal on Saturday which would've covered the spread against NCSt. That helped me win a five-team parlay. Woo Hoo.
