The problem is money. The job doesn't pay enough. We pay this guy $400K and he's responsible for more than $1,000,000,000,000. That's thwarted. With Obama, the guy barely knew how to balance a checkbook much less have the fiduciary experience needed for the job.

I've had many years when I made more than the president. If I can do that, then how do we expect to get great talent with that shitty pay? There isn't a business, sports team, or any successful organizations that at one time or another had/have great talent. INCLUDING GOVERNMENT. We've wallowed in mediocrity since Reagan and his last term was marginal at best.

The job as president should pay a base salary of $25MM with bonuses for economic growth, job growth, environment and doing something about cutting costs of bullshit like illegal immigration or streamlining processes, controls and procedures. This is 2010 and we're still using antique thinking to run the government.

With all due respect, people run for the office of the presidency, not for the "lucrative"  paychecks, but for power, prestige, and all the perks that come with it.

So, what are you saying?  Do you get up and go to work for the prestige?  Also, I want someone who has a higher monetary value to ability ratio. We've had this "prestige of the job" shit for how long now? How's that working out for us? We need innovative thinkers - action oriented people who have the vision, foresight, and are not enamored with themselves that it doesn't bog down their purpose. That, Mr. Ass Kicker, you'll certainly get for the right money.

We are weak financially, our military is weak (spread out across the world), citizens are weak (not informed and uneducated), borders are weak, policies are weak.

I'm not going to debate it because I will have different outlooks on many topics.  I'm simply hoping that people in general, pull their heads out of their ass and start to get educated.

Speaking of minds, you must be young because you certainly aren't using that piece of equipment between your ears. To say our military is shit, you tell me who has a better one? Tell me a country who has the high level of leadership in their military such as ours? West Point and Annapolis are two of the toughest schools in this country and abroad. The training, equipment, technology and highly tuned systems, processes and controls we have available is second to none. I'll give you one example of the technology...

In 1997 I started a headhunting business in Chicago. Lockheed ran a full page help wanted ad for engineers that have knowledge and are adept with T1 technology. Evidently T1 is a uber turbo speed, high tech system to transfer voice and data at a zooming pace. I dug around and found the hiring manager and called him. We chatted for a bit and he explained to me that, and remember this is 1997, he was looking for a T1 engineer, but they're in the process of revolutionizing T3 and T5 technology at that time so the person to be hired should be adept at learning new shit.  The phone system we were using then was a T1 and it ran great and I told this guy that. He told me that the T3 & T5 applications are not 3x or 5x greater than a T1, it's an exponent of that.... even faster yet. Naturally, I asked why we needed that and he told me exactly what you see today - real time war. These guys are sitting in Utah directing drones in Afghanistan and potentially bombing the shit out of the bastards. Go join the Iraqi or Iranian army and tell me how they're committed to saving their people. See what you get.

Our policies are not weak, it's the people executing them that are. We are not weak when it comes to educating our people. We've had, and currently have, some of the best, advanced teaching at many of the most outstanding, prestigious institutes in the world. You're right about our borders, but tell me a country where so many people are jonesing to get in and live. England? Nope. Canada? nfw. Japan? No way. Russia? Certainly not. Sudan? Hell no.

In summation, we are absolutely the greatest military in the world, with the best leadership (other than the commander in chief). We offer the greatest opportunities to be successful than anywhere else and that is why people want to come here. Our education is world class, and we have the ability,duty and privilege to not only elect our government officials, but to have the right to speak out about them. If you don't like these things, you are certainly free to move almost anywhere in the world, or get off of your dead ass and do something rather than carping about it.

  I agree! Seems like the Leader of the Free World would make more money! But, since Obama was a Junior Senator not long ago, and he ran for President, and won unfortunately, yet is worth around 7 Million? Can anyone explain this, besides the obvious under the table back room dealing Washington Elites, funded by every liberal group in the world!

1 - Never said our military was shit.  Said it was weak due to being spread out across the world.  Nice try, though.

2 - Who said anything about the Iraq or Iranian army trying to save their people?  I don't give a shit about their people and sure don't remember mentioning that.....Are you saying that our military is saving their people? 

3 - Our policies are weak.  We piss on taxpayer money at a tremendous rate. 

4 - Our education is world class - if you have the money for it.

5 - I sincerely believe that we don't have the ability to elect our government officials.  They have been bought and paid for.

Tim - I think you caught my posts at a bad time.  I'm not pro-Obama or left, I'm not pro-Bush or right, I'm not pro-Big government, I'm barely for government.  I'm not too old (33), and do have a lot to learn.  But the more I'm learning each day, the less I like of our (and many, many nation's) corrupt governments.  My main point in this thread was that I don't understand why America funds Israel ridiculous amounts of money.  Since then, I've been called an anti-Semite and other names.  I apparently don't understand the Israel/U.S. connection and could use some education on it.  But what if I didn't support reparations for blacks?  Would I be called racist by some in this thread?  If so, that's fine - it's no big deal, but it shows the name callers lack of reasoning, to which they go straight for the name calling.
