It's all bullshit, that's just what cops do. They most likely said the same thing to the others that were interviewed. Take the lie detector - it doesn't work first off, is inadmissable in court secondly, and thridly they are probably not going to waste any money to administer it unless they had a slam dunk case built up.

sorry guys...update:

cops never offered to give lie detector test..all bogus anyways..did have to go to court, and one of the guys skipped bail, only one was there...it got handed over to grand jury, which wont be till next spring

#1- Never take a polygraph test. Never.

#2- If you choose to give a statement, give it to them at the place where the incident occured or a neutral place such as a coffee shop. Don't go to the police station. It's too much of a home field advantage for them. Any statement you give is voluntary so do it on your terms. Not theirs.

#3- If they start acting like dicks, tell them to go fuck their sister while their mother watches. Cops like to be bullies because people let them.

Never, ever agree to a Lie Detector Examination. There is never any upside and depending on your responses, plenty of downside on what is essentially an illegal search. 

Always consult with an attorney, it's usually free and the guidance will usually far exceed the advice of a forum. 

Finally, Consult a lawyer if the Grand Jury wants to meet with you. Just good sense.
