You must have missed the 10 pages of advice I linked him to.
I wasnt kicking him when he was down. I was being realistic, and he knows it. If someone asks "how do I become a brain surgeon by tomorrow", it is silly to tell him to go to the library and start reading. The poster (by his own admission) has serious flaws, and totally unrealistic expectations.
Thats not kicking him, telling him that is doing him a big favor.
Wow. I am confused. I thought this was another thread I posted in.
Sorry.
You are right, I was a douche in this thread.

Unlike sports betting, most poker players that you see on TV win in the long run. At least that is what the majority of college kids who play the game think.

Exactly.
This is how Daniel Negranu, Phil Helmuth, Phil Ivey, and all of the other sponsored / ownership in poker sites peoples financials look at the end of the year:
Income from sponsorship / ownership = 10 million Losses from actually playing poker = 2 million Losses from other gambling = 1 million
Net = 7 million
And all of America watches them on ESPN and GSN and thinks how great they are at poker and how they could be them one day.

Amen. When I tell young, aspiring poker players 15-20 years my junior that Negreanu would be broke without his sponsorship from PokerStars, they treat me like some mentally defect asswipe. When in reality, they are the naive imbeciles for thinking skill will lead them to a lucrative career in poker. The nerve of the young fucks who think they will reinvent the poker wheel never ceases to amaze me. They see one guy on a random hot streak on TV and don't even consider all the skilled players who are BROKE. Even the nit, Howard Lederer wisely realizes this, as he steers clear of high cash games for the most part.

It cant be much different then the real world... a few guys take all the money and everyone else supports them thinking they are doing better then they really are...
