Your "long time local" has action everyday and has NEVER had a losing week and can probably name every losing day he has had off the top of his head.
You can also save the "...he makes a small percentage of his action in the form of juice..." He could let his customers all play at +105 and still fleece them.
You want to win every year? Take the calls-don't make the calls.

I was wondering ... no matter how good you are, it is still very hard to win for the long haul.
Is there anyone that has won over a long period of time? if so, how? strategy, sport, etc ...
I'm good friends with an older, long time local and he says in all of his years he had one winner. one. ONE.
thoughts?
Does every NFL team win a super bowl?
Does every MLB team win the world series?
Does every NHL team win the Stanley cup?
etc
The answer to that is no....
Not all sports bettors win or make a profit over the course of there betting career but there are about 5 % of the betting population that bet as if they are Derrick Rose with the basketball or Tom Brady with the pigskin....they win.
So the overall conclusion is you cannot say "does anyone win over the long run betting" because until you win over the long run betting you just wont get it.

I believe in "hot" streaks where you just about hit everything. Bet big when you feel you are in the "ZONE" and feel like you cant lose.
In these periods set a target goal... Lets say you bet 100 dollar bets.. set a target of 2000 or something. When you reach that pull everything out except maybe 300 and start over.
At some point your streak will end, and you will lose 300 instead of 2000.

Of couse there are ones that do. They are the ones that do not wager everyday. Look for thier spots and don't lay big juice. They look for nice dog plays.

You seriously believe this? Of course bookies have losing weeks, what an idiotic statement.

It's betting a certain % of your bankroll on EACH bet & not one penny more. If you're losing-your base bets are getting smaller. If you're winning-your base bets are getting bigger. That way-you'll never have to face the same situation as comment # 12 above. Also-there HAS to some line value on the bet your making-or there is no absolutely no reason to make the bet. Probably 75% of lines are so sharp as to have no value to them-which means you really have to pick your spots. Myself-I love fading public favorites-in all sports. As an example-I look for a reason to fade The Lakers(among other NBA teams) because i'm getting better line value on my bet due to the public usually betting The Lakers. If my handicapping shows The lakers to be a 5 point favorite & they're listed as a 7 point favorite-I'll pounce on the underdog. I'm getting 2 points of value-assuming no injuries to the team i'm betting. Stay disciplined & good luck all.

Nobody wins because your local tells you that he doesnt know any, and you dont know any, and several posters on covers dont know any.
Great.
And I dont believe that China exists because I have never been there, and my mom and brother have never been there, and nobody I know has been there. Chinese food is just an invention. Made in China is really just a code for Made in somehwere I have been or know someone who has been.
Caveman.
Support your local animal shelter. I am on twitter.
