Do you love your job?

I have a decent job.... decent pay.... decent benefits....

I guess I appreciate it sometimes.

but most of the time it seems as if i'm overworked and underpaid.

does anyone here actually love what they do, and make good money doing it?

I have days of ups and downs.. mostly downs lately (like the past 3-4 years)

working with all of these assholes that i know make more money than i do, and they work about half as much as i do

shit pisses me off, i'm sure a lot of people feel this way

there are days that I enjoy what I do, but they seem few and far between, and it's been too long since I can remember a good day that I actually had fun working.

now it's like i go to work and do as little as possible to get by

i can't seem to find the motivation to want to do more

i don't make enough pay to care anymore

maybe it's just the heat, i work for a commercial/industrial roofing company, and it's been hot as hell lately

don't get me wrong.. I do my job and I'm pretty successful at it.

we've already hit our sales goal of 4.5 million this calendar year

I just feel like all i do is work work work and some already rich asshole gets to reap all the rewards, while i'm stuck here making the same old salary for the past 4 years, and the rich asshole gets richer

fuckin sucks

but it puts food on the table and pays the bills

whats' a guy to do?

just take it easy from now on--call in sick, take long lunches, go home early, etc.  makes things much easier.

Sounds to me like you're jealous.  They figured out a way to get in that position.....you should as well.  

I'd serve my friends food and beer daily for the next 20 years if I could get paid $100K a year to do it.  I can't.

that would be awesome... I did have a dream of opening my own restaurant/bar, but the people I know who have tried that and failed make it look next to impossible

been trying for years, these people dont' quit and most of the positions that are in the higher pay grades are full and rarely open up.. It looks like I'll have to wait until someone retires, which the oldest guy in one of those positions is only 46 years old and i'm sure he will stay as long as he can. I can't blame him.. The PM's make an easy 100k a year, and it's cake work because they have guys like me doing all their work for them

I really like my job, but I can't say that I love it.  The unfortunate part is that it's just a job, not a career.  My job pays me very well for an undergrad and I work about 4 hrs out of an 8 hr day.

I spend half of my day studying for classes, doing homework, and on Covers.

I love the people I work with but I'm leaving here within the next couple of months.

Everything you describe I could say about myself too.  Im very apathetic about my career - and wake up every day thinking I dont want to do it anymore.

But I dont dig ditches, I dont have to do something that compromises my integrity - and I live better than most people in the world.  So I remind myself of this, and am thankful.

I've been having troubles quoting, and it's happened now with two different computers.  Haven't been able to for several weeks.  Anyone else running into this?

That's the smartest post of the entire thread.  I don't know what it is about America.  It seems as if people like working 40-60 hours a week.  The Hell with that.

I try not to work anymore than 15 days a month.  Then again, I went out on a limb to start my own business and I was fortunate enough to make it work.  It seems that some of my friends feel that I don't work enough.  I think I'm doing it right though.  My goal is to work to live.  No more.  Life is too short.  I'm gonna enjoy it.
