I'd be surprised if you really even knew what Affirmative Action is and what it's not.
Affirmative action refers to policies that take factors including "race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin"[1] into consideration in order to benefit an underrepresented group, usually as a means to counter the effects of a history of discrimination. I started med school with 8 black people. if anyone failed one class you were kicked out.....unless you were black then you could fail as often as you like and retake the classes which often resulted in 7th and 8th year students that were far from the average in quality.
eventually some people were awarded medical degrees that had no business at all having them.....very very dangerous.
as far as the gpa article goes...ive seen it about 10 times in emails and while it illustrates the point, people just think and vote based on feelings rather than logic....
i pay my taxes, never cheat on them, the real question is....how much the government wants to take and what are they doing with the money. there will come a point where its not worth it anymore though....which i guess is the message from this article

I've written an Affirmative Action plan. It's a way for companies to actively put themselves in a position to source more QUALIFIED minority candidates. It does not specify who you have to hire.
In many cases, companies like to be recognized as entities that actively attempt to souce QUALIFIED minorities. Why? Because when you have a reputation like that, you end up getting the talented folks who are minorities that want to work for you. It's good for business. It's good publicity.
Too many people confuse making a concerted effort to source certain candidates with a mandate to hire a minority. I've probbly been involved with over 1,000 hires in my career. Not once have I been told my the government who I can and cannot hire.

This whole premise that this kid came up with is no different than me telling my next door neighbor to donate me some of his land. Do you really need this kid to come up with this example so you can get in touch with what re-distribution of wealth means?
I think you are missing the entire point of this study. He did not conduct it for 30 somethings to "get in touch with what re-distribution of wealth means." The study was addressed specifically at college age students, a population that more likely than not falls on the lower end of the wealth scale. It is easy for someone with little wealth to support an idealistic policy when they have nothing to lose. I think this study drew a very interesting comparison, and it had to at least make the "wealthy" (high GPA students) think twice about wealth distribution in a situation that negatively impacted them.
