My beef was with the guy calling non-tippers low lifes and assholes. I can imagine him not being able to live off his tips. In most countries where tipping is customary good service is, and will be rewarded but there are many people working a job and they do not get an annual bonus or other reward for doing above average work. If you don't like it, you can always change vocations.

Bro i do expect a tip that is why me and everyone who works in the industry works in the industry.  It is for tips.  If you don't want to tip make your own food and drinks.  Also we have fine ass bitches bring you your drinks. If people didn't work for tips you would have fat ass bitches bringing you your shit.  Who wants that in a sports bar.  Just like people who don't tip the car washers at the car wash; what the fuck then wash ur own car.

Work at a pretty busy Italian restaurant off the the strip on Tropicana.  We get lots of locals and tourists alike.  The money is insane but you always get beat once or twice a night.  It always averages out and it beats the hell out of working in one of the casinos.  In this day in age I'm just happy to have landed this gig.  Bad tips used to get me down but after doing this for 15 years you develop a thick skin.  Any locals who work in the same business give me a shout out!  Love to support  fellow bartenders and servers.

You come across like one of those entitled server types who think everyone should be tipping you 25%+ regardless of your service being good or bad.  And whether you notice or not, customers do pick up on and have equal dislike for servers who portray certain attitudes.  Of course you got the customers who don't tip regardless the service, but then you got others like myself who still tip well even if the server is doing a shitty job.

Here's how I look at it and always have when working any job where tips are involved:  You're gonna have some shitty tippers and you're gonna have the ones who go way overboard on tipping you and in the end it pretty much evens out, so why get so worked up about it and then to go further be a dick about it?

1. All you Vegas folks...how much do those table waitresses in the casinos make who seem to get a $1 minimum for every drink they bring to someone at the gaming/poker table? Those trays ALWAYS have like 10+ drinks per round.

2. I HATE servers/waiters who give %hitty service and expect the normal 15-20% when they have the attitude like they'd rather be anywhere else.  I still usually tip ok in that instance as I used to be a server but it still pisses me off.

3. I typically tip $1-2 when I pick up carryout depending on the amount.

Firstly, what do you do aside from your job that entitles you to EXPECT a tip? You bring food and drink to people who are paying well more than they should for the food and drink and you go on like you've given them a kidney. Let me guess, your bar charges $5 for a bottle of Bud. Hey champ, I've got news for you. I can get 30 bottles of Bud for $30, so please don't go on like you're doing me a favour by walking 10 feet to give me a $5 Bud.

Secondly, fine ass bitches don't mean shit if they are prized kunts with an attitude as entitled as yours. So we get to watch the entitled bitch walk on over with a scowl on her face and then watch her ass as she leaves. So fucking what? if the fine ass bitch wants to earn extra cash she can do her work under the table.

It's entitled, arrogant people like you who fuck the industry for the hard working, servers who actually enjoy their job.

Do the clubs let you bring in beer that you get so cheap at the store? NO.  Your paying for the environment.  I work at a very high speed bar in NYC. Place is always packed.  I get huge tips not because im opening up a beer bottle and walking couple feet to give it to a guy.  Im getting huge tips because off the speed im knocking out drinks sometimes at the rate of 20+ a minute and they are just not beers... they are speciality   drinks that need to be muddled, shaked, strained, and delivered all in the fastest time possible.  And let me tell you those that tip the most get their drinks the fastest.  Im in the industry not because  i didnt finish school ( I have a double engineering degree in Civil and Industrial Engineering) but because I make crazy money and enjoy the industry.  I enjoy it so much I parlayed my money 2 other bars that I own with two other guys and both bars produce crazy cashflow... I love when people look down at me for only being a bartender and have no idea that I own two bars and more likely than not have a higher net worth than them.  Its nice to have the degree to fall back on but I know now I will never need it.  Heres a hint for you guys that have no idea about the industry.  If you have a regular spot you go to.  Way over tip next couple times you go.  In the end more likely than not you will comped way more drinks than you would have ever had to pay for in a given year.  You will also be remembered quicker and be given much faster service.  
By the way best tippers I have had over past couple years...

i worked in the service industry biz in vegas for 5 1/2 years( tour guide/ late night sports book) and i can tell you that generally speaking the best tippers are from: las vegas, new york city, florida and hawaii. whenever i had a group from europe or the midwest/southeast i knew i was getting stiffed. on a side note,my biggest stiff story ever- a guy cashed an 8 team $25 football parlay. after i paid him the 2500 bucks he asked me if he got drink tickets with that. at this point he hadn't left anything on the counter. i looked at him, and then looked at the counter. it was obvious he wasnt going to leave a toke (casino speak for tip), so i told him he could buy a beer with the $2475 he had just profited.

people don't understand the importance of speed unless they've worked in a high volume club/bar,,,,,,,,,i bartended in the st.louis area from 2000-2005,,,,,when the 3 o'clock bars closed you had 2 options: stripclubs or the club i worked at ,,,our "rush" was from 3 am to 6 am and speed was essential--- that's what people were tipping for....my service....being able to  get a drink in a timely manner even though the bar is about 3 layers deep.........I NEVER forgot a face if you tipped me,,,NEVER,,,and damn right i'm serving someone that tipped me before the dude that just stiffed me on a round of 4 drinks............

but yea,,,,if u just hang out at "wilber's corner pub" and the only people in the bar are you and wilber,,,then you might not see the importance of tipping....................

Amazing how many canadians and hillbillys we get at our place in Vegas!  All douches who want split the bill 20 ways and think 10% is a good tip for phenomenal service!

Me and Rick go way back we both where in the same middle school class and graduated PSL high in 11997. we dont get along anymore for personal reasons........He changed alot since we where jitterbugs but man.....its crazy to say i grew up with him........played little league ball on on same team. High school ball same team. Graduated same year........when he first got into major leagues i was in Navy........When i would come home for leave we would always head to West Palm Beach.....and go party the coolest mutherfucker in the world is Matt Morris who was Rick's best friend.

Mutherfucker was like well we are going back to St Louis the day after tomm. so feel free to use my crib in Jupiter (Baller) and let me use his Range Rover for the rest of my Vacation. I never meet the guy before that he just appreciated my military service and knew me and Rick where tight....

But yeah me and Rick Dont get along much these days.......he thinks i fucked his ex GF but thats another story.......

I agree BWare about the group in the STL that are the worst tippers.  It's the same all the way up to Chi-town.  And then they're the ones who bitch cuz there isn't enough liquor in the drink.

I was in a bar in Chicago in the 90's and Chris Farley comes walking in, wasted of course. He ended up buying a few rounds for everyone in the bar and he ordered like 30 pizzas to feed everyone. Extremely cool guy.
