A question from a me a Christian

I believe in God and have a strong faith, certainly not perfect, but try to do the right things as best I can.

But historically, more wars, conflict, and hate.......were in the name of religion.

Not specifying Christianity, but a whole lot of different ones. Consider those ignorant Puritans in the 1600s and their ignorant witch hunts.

I could come up with about 200 examples, and no one could deny my facts.

Also, it is often said...if you believe in God amd that their is a God, than there must be a Satan and evil.

Lords knows that there are historically a plethora of evil people that must have had satan in their bodies. I truly believe that.

Hitler? Hugo Chavez? Bin Laden? That crazy Atta guy that flew the plane into the Twin Towers?

They all had satan in them, just like I hope I have God inside of me.

I completely disagree....i understand where you are coming from because it is an extremely scary prospect to believe humans could make some of these decisions devoid of demonic possession (which is essentially, as crazy as it sounds, the Christian excuse for every human sin).

Unfortunately, it is much more likely those men were simply acting upon their primal instincts to conquer and exterminate that which is unlike them, whether the difference lie in faith or genetics or race...it is not unlike any other animal (we are mammals after all) who hoard together in groups and hunt prey unlike themselves

Wendy---i've seen the garbage that comes out of your mouth around here,,,,,pppppppppplease with you "saved" shit........and p.s. ,,,you're from tennessee---your whole state has "been saved" (visited chatt. nash. and knox on a week long business trip a couple years ago---easily the worst places I have ever been to in my life......what's with the dude's wearing the khaki shorts to their thighs around there? and them all wearing the same haircut?  and chewin tobaccy at every convenient store counter?  and mullets?  and girls dippin?  and country music everywhere? and confederate flags? and the color orange? I could go on........but...........you get the drift............

scalabrine ~ Why do you feel the need to lash out against the way that someone finds inner peace when it doesn't interfere with your life in the least?

caca ~ You'd really hate me,I believe in God,I occasionally chew/dip,I often wear some sort of orange Tennessee gear,and having ancestors that bravely defended the South I respect the Confederate flag and realize that it's true meaning has nothing to do with race.However I do not currently nor did I ever sport a mullet and  rarely do I listen to country music.

Dirt ~ After reading many posts from you,it's very transparent that you are extremely bitter towards people of the South because you're so envious of them.And who could really blame you? We have the best lookin' women,the best climate,people are friendlier down here,and we definitely rule the college football world!

Any1 find it interesting that the ones spewing animosity towards believing in something religious are the ones who are most cynical.

We are all conected to the same source of energy, whih is the universe. Some may call it god. Some may prefer a more non-physical from, some may call it karma. Regardless, there is a god. I believe in Intelligent Design.  Our history books about Darwinism are changing.  Our genetic DNA is so complex it wasnt constructed by coincidence.

dude, you talk like youre in mississippi, you live in virginia, hardly the deep south, sure it was the capital of the confederacy once but things have changed and richmond doesnt seem south'y anymore, if you live in arlington or springfield you really need a keep quiet,  and which bad ass virginia college team is tearing up the world? tech or uva? please

I am a born and bred proud southerner and my post was meant to defend the South as a whole.The South seems to be a COVERS pinata for ignorant posters in here.I love the South and although there are a few parts of this country that I find very unappealing, I keep it to myself.I don't see the value in trying to make an entire region of our nation feel bad about themselves.As a matter of fact,I don't even feel comfortable when someone bashes Canada and I've never even been there.

 Not that I need to qualify myself to you, but one side of my family is from Louisiana the other from Tennessee.I lived in Florida and later attended college in Tennessee, my wife and her family are from Mobile.I currently live in Fauquier County which is an entirely different game than Springfield or Arlington.Other than heading to D.C. occasionally, I always seem to be travelling south and that's just fine with me.

Pretty much only about religion, I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, beliefs, and thoughts on the matter.

If everyone in the world thought like that, it sure would be a lot more peaceful.

You are demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of Christianity if you believe that the person who is seeking forgiveness is the judge and jury when it comes to deciding whether or not God ultimately did forgive them.

More evidence of your misunderstanding. Most Christian religions do not believe that sin results from demonic possession, but rather man's inherent weakness and flawed nature. It's a necessary result that some will choose to sin as a result of having free will.

Being "saved" is a total sham concept used to sucker people in.

Gets saved on March 25th 1995 and never worry about sin ever again.

WSC -- Granted, I'm not as familiar with most Christian sects that "save" people as I am with Catholicism, but I believe that those religions say that even when someone is "saved", that does not absolve them of all future sins. "Saved" merely refers to the acceptance of JC as your savior. You still gotta live the good life and, if you do sin, be genuine when you ask for your forgiveness.

Ask people who have been saved what it means to them, I bet you would be surprised.

Being "saved" is a made up catch-all for lazy people. You dont get "saved" from anything for acknowledging that Christ is your savior, that means very little.

It is merely a start of a long term process in which you learn and perform good acts (works) and balance "faith" with "works" to achieve salvation.

In reality we have no idea who will be "saved" or not until judgment, but if you read the scripts and follow what concepts (especially the NT) are suggested then you can deduce that "salvation" is a life-long process.

Of course if you believe in the theory that is what you do anyway..

Sounds like we are on the same page then. All I was attempting to point out was that salvation is a life-long process, and ultimately, we on Earth are not the ones who decide whether or not that life-long process was successful.

i did try to be like southerners once but i didn't like it. 

however, it was a difficult process to reverse.  i had to introduce myself to a dentist and get some teeth put in, discontinue sexual relations with my first cousin, find something to do on the weekends other than bash gays, sell the ten guns i kept for protection, learn to read, keep all of that money i was spending on my church's new extension and use it to buy books to read with my newfound literacy, and even do the unthinkable, vote for a black guy.  how do people live like this?

have you ever lived in the South?? visited for any length of time??  you do realize your constant bashing of the South is as ignorant as the unrealistic portrait you paint of the South, don't you?? there has to be a story for the unbridled hatred you constantly show...please do share...

i'm covered.  for anyone who thinks i do not know what i'm talking about, i can say that i grew up in the south and am familiar with the redneck species.  yet, for anyone calling me ignorant based on my observations, my excuse is that i grew up in the south.
