    Simple solution?

How about posting clear & concise rules on your website before the event, or don't offer the bet.

Obviously the problem is that the rules are not really cut and dry in this situation and they are ambiguous enough to allow for multiple interpretations.

yeah its not like where in mma after the fight has happen... it gets "overturned" because someone tested for something or etc.

tony should have been more clear NO MATTER WHAT we are going with the first announced winner.

I've also reached an agreement, albeit a bittersweet one...

First off, I would like to thank Lou and KP3 for their help with this issue. I had a chat with Tony today and it was straightforward and somewhat pleasant, considering the circumstances. The following proposition was offered:

    1. Take the 2k with the corrected wagers and break ties with 5dimes.

    2. Take the original split that I initially proposed and continue enjoying the wealth of wagering options and payout security that 5dimes offers.

That's a really tough choice, along with an outstanding resolution to the pending issue. To be honest, I'll be hard pressed to find another 10c bases book that will offer everything under the sun as far as wagering options go.(4th of July excluded) Also, I'll probably make enough wagers during the baseball season that the reduced juice at 5dimes would be far more beneficial than the money in hand currently.

The only problem is that I can't be comfortable with a respectable amount of coin at place I feel like I'm fighting to the death for every scrap on the table. In this particular situation it all worked out, but what about next time? At what point does saving every cent as a business decision (5dimes) vs having an enjoyable experience blur? The choice should be easy, since it should be strictly business. However, it isn't that simple.

At no point did I ever question 5dimes status as an elite book. They pay - every time, on time. Then again, feeling like a pointless pawn when you place a tens of thousands worth of wagers a year is disgusting. Even more so considering the limited options left for players that were a dependent on Matchbook. Between a rock and a hard place, to say the least...

As stated somewhat bluntly by Van earlier in this thread, you almost have to have a gangster mentality to run a large scale successful operation such as 5dimes. 90% are hustlers trying to bang you out of every nickel on every issue that comes up over the course of a year. This business is built on finding and exploiting every loophole imaginable. Defending the fort is a necessary part of the job description.

With the obligatory "that being said" reference, I must conclude in saying that I can't and won't conduct business with anyone or anything that doesn't treat me with the same respect I treat them. Maybe I like to be fucked with a smile or maybe I'm just too stubborn to realize that this type of treatment is a "write off" for being able to conduct business with the best book around. This decision will probably cost me a few bucks in the long run, but in the meantime....

Glad you guys got a resolution.

    Fuck 5 Dimes.

Bitch Ass move by Tony, the man should grow a set.

Definately seemed to be on the rag during that chat.

I still think you need help for betting on wrestling though... unless you got inside info.

You basically have what my decision calculus was as well here. Very well put WTL

It's a matter of pride, and as someone who is not doing this for his livelihood and relying upon the advantages that a superior book like 5dimes has, the loss of a little bit of money longterm is worth it to feel like I am a valued customer. I am a firm believer in the consumer's voice being with his wallet. This consumer doesn't appreciate the treatment by the management of this establish, and I will let my wallet (albeit surely a small one compared to others who play at 5dimes) do my talking, even if it is just one mere drop in the ocean for a massive operation like 5dimes.

Besides, I cannot sit here and legitimately believe that the decision rendered by Tony (and the hardline stance behind it to the point of being willing to drop who should be a valued customer who has never tried anything shady or given reason to be treated with disrespect) was NOT primarily motivated by the fact that he would have taken a bath had he had to pay out so many Miz bets at higher than 2 to 1. If he took 100k on Wrestlemania, is it fair to assume at least 25k of that was on the main event, and let's be honest, basically all of that was on the Miz seeing as he started at +1000, hung around at +700 for a while, then slowly creeped down to +145 before the event. For him to put on this air of "I'm just ruling on the basis of the rules" is ridiculous and insulting to all of our intelligence.

You don't need inside info for betting on wrestling for it to be a +EV situation. I don't know about you, but that's all I'm looking for when I wager my money, be it tennis, soccer, baseball, wrestling, the stock market, poker, basketball, etc.

I have to believe that 5dimes has lost more business because of their reaction to problems like mine and WTL's, seeing as they have been posted on various gambling forums, than if they had just stepped up and done the right thing and graded the fucking bet as it should have been graded. If you take a beating on it, well guess what? Shouldn't that be a loud and clear message that your oddsmakers didn't do their job correctly? I guarantee I could put together better odds on Wrestlemania than those guys did. Hell, I did put together hypothetical, reasonable, legitimate lines when discussing this on this very site before the lines were released. My lines wouldn't have gotten crushed like theirs did -- but somehow that is MY fault, and I'm not worthy of a customer because I nailed your ass in a +EV situation for myself?

Terrible business decision more than anything else. No PR sense whatsoever.

Seeing that you had to pull your account or get nothing, I will stand by my post.

The stress and time spent on this issue would not be worth it for the seasoned gambler.

5dimes is a much better book than betjam imo. They are the two books i've used the most and its not even close. Find a friend and have him deposit for you and stay with 5dimes. That way you can save face and still use the best book.

    Not really.

Clearly these two posters taking the issue public is not good business for 5 Dimes.

    Making them unwanted customers.

Giving them a choice ultimately shuts them up.

I wasn't willing to eat 2k of profit that was difficult to obtain. The fact remains that there was a +450 underdog Raptors team in the middle of that wager. Could I have made a straight wager on the Raptors without the Miz bet? Of course. However, I would have made a similar wager with or without "The Miz" and it would have paid exactly half of what I won without him. Giving back a grand is essentially dismissing his leg of the wager.

It would be one thing if this really was an issue that was open for interpretation. For instance, if you had a focus group of 100 people and asked them who was victorious in the match, 100 of them would say The Miz.

Thanks man. It's water under the bridge at this point. Does it severely limit my options? Unfortunately, yes. However, I hope everyone has learned something from what started as a "trivial pursuit" without the pun. I'll be paid in full, but forced to move on.

5dimes remains a cut above. I know it, you know it and Tony knows it. Does that excuse the handling of the situation? No, but it does lay an example of the necessary evils of gambling as a hobby.

I agree with Crow. It's amazing that they are not paying you to stay but to leave.

Kap, admitted he's in the red overall on the site and why would he lie about something like that.

The ONE AND ONLY reason 5Dimes would try to banish Kap and Walk is because they have made a competent argument in a public forum concerning the outcome of a bet.

5Dimes wants all brainless squares apparently depositing and redepositing endlessly to the benefit of the sites bottom line.

Kap, (and I speak for the many of members of this forum as well most likely), after what has transpired, I FORBID you to EVER refund that site ONE PENNY for their betting services. You will be trading in your betting manhood if you do so.

Wow -- the first proposition just doesnt make sense to me

    1. Take the 2k with the corrected wagers and break ties with 5dimes

why would they agree to give you all you're money as long as you leave ? I would think it should be the exact opposite - we agree to give you the money as long as you stay with us.

We have a car sales business and I always worry when I do something as a goodwill gesture - that they will never come back I feel I just wasted that money

Insert your stupidity somewhere else, grown ups are having a reasonable discussion here. It's WAYYYY over your head.

Typical ITG.. I would backhand you in real life, potentially followed by a Rock Bottom...
