I run everyday and lift every other day at 6am, can I swim on my lift days at noon real hard or do I need to have my body recover from the morning workout and not swim on my lift days.

Most people just need 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily to be healthy.  Your body is your guide.  If overtraining leads to sickness then that is too much exercise.  Adequate rest is important for recovery.

To pick up my morning newspaper,  i take a brisk 5-minute power walk up the street in one direction and back in the other.
    Is this enough?

running, or any strenuous activity before lifting is detrimental to your conditioning, and should be stopped immediately, swimming is the best of the best to incorporate into your program, a brisk 5 minute walk is just that, if your pushing 60 it does wonders for the cardiovascular. not knowing your age, or your physical condition, makes it difficult to answer your questions in these regards, if your body can withstand the pain, you should open up your training procedure to 60 yd wind sprints, do a set of 30 (1 mile) with a 2 minute blow in between...do this once a week, with no other activity on that day, caution yourself to 'overtrainig' the body has to recover, if not, your immune system breaks down, and your going to become ill rather than "in shape" aprx 30% of enthusiastic, and highly motivated inexperienced novices begin working out trainerless, with the understanding that 'more' is better, especially those seeking weight loss, professional athletes are over-train fanatics, gaining strength, and competitive stamina, fortunately they have trainers to guide them; just remember recovery is essential to purpose.

I can only put my past credentials on the table as a strength and conditioning coach for both the University of Florida, and the S.F.49ers, I'm not going to debate this, but it is clear you have your own opinion, based on your own whim thoughts, not education to the facts, I'll say this and maybe you can grasp that I'm not "beyond wrong"  you don't workout after a workout, it's that simple, and their are numerous reasons for this, do a little research and you'll find this not only to be true, but helpful to those who approach the overtraining mode of physical conditioning.

1st off, nobody does what you are saying. Nobody runs 10 miles and then goes and lifts weights. Simply doesnt happen. Lifting weights at the gym requires being there, and any previous workout isnt gonna be that strenuous.
