anyone who wants to lose weight all you have to do is drink 2 protein shakes a day, one in the morning one at night but be sure to buy a protein powder that has other nutrients and amino acids. I lost 45 lbs. following this regimen.

f*ck yeah something is funny - you thinking whey protein (or any food in isolation) has some kind magical voodoo weight loss power ...
If you lost weight, you were in a calorie deficit, pure and simple. The whey protein had nothing do with that.. you could have achieved the same thing eating anything and everything you like if you simply tracked your macros

I could put a slice of pepperoni pizza in a blender. Make a shake. Drink one in the morning 500 calories. Drink one at night 500 calories. And lose weight. That's whats funny.

I only drink 2 shakes a day (48-50 grams per shake) when I'm strength training (5x per week) - on off days (when I do at least 30 minutes of cardio 2x per week) I have 1 shake. I also use a Pre Workout and BCAA's intra-workout. The most important, however, is WATER.
On day or Off day, I eat every 3 hours (630, 930, 12, 3, 6, 9). 8oz serving of slow cooked meat and some veggies. For breakfast I have 2 whole eggs and 4 egg whites with Feta. I also drink over 1 gallon of water a day. It's all about consistency, and watching your carbs. Eat 20% of your carbs before training and 80% after training. Eat natural and the weight will melt off of your body. If you're in a hurry (summer is coming up) I would add a non-stim fat burner to your regiment.
TL;DR - yes a high protein diet will help you lose weight, but there are so many other factors you have to control to achieve this loss. DRINK MORE WATER!

no dude, you want a SURE FIRE way to lose weight / fat ?
start tracking your current food intake and find out how many calories / day you're taking in. Once you have that number you'll have your current maintenance calories.
From there, all you do is create a calorie deficit, either by eating less, moving more or a combination of both.
forget the voodoo and the bullsh*t magic tricks that people claim work, YOU CANNOT HACK THE SIMPLE LAW OF THERMOGENICS - take in more calories than you expend = gain fat, burn more calories than you take in = lose fat
