"All you can eat" restaurants

Anyone actually enjoy going to these places? I don't mind them from time to time but a) the food's never really all that good (granted, some places are better than others) and b) after about two plates, I'm usually done (unless it's "Shrimp-Fest" at Red Lobster!).

What types of "all you can eat" places do you like? What kind of damage can you do? And, when it comes down to it, would you just as soon pay a little more for a meal you'll actually enjoy?

When I was younger Pizza hut and other places had an all you can eat lunch buffet with Pizza and salad...  I think it was like 6 bucks or so...

Korean/japanese have Yakiniku restaurants where you get the raw meat that is sliced and prepared for you and grill it yourself at the table...

A few of these are all you can eat, and I like the deal there and often times you will end up grazing for hours...  I usually allot at least 3-4 hours when going to place like this...

The last place is Todai restaurants that I are japanese,but they have them all over the USA...  i have gone to the one in Hawaii as well as places on the west coast...

On your B-day it is free (if some one else buys a dinner)...

shrimp tempura, coconut and other
crab
crepes
Udon, ramen, yakisoba noodles, miso soup
teriyaki chicken and salmon
Misc asian meat and  vegi dishes
desserts

I think it is like $24.95 for dinner ($12.40 per a person on a b-day)...  Quality is average, but unless you really know your sushi...  But this gives you a chance try stuff and not eat it if you dont like it, instead of going to a sushi or asian place and gambling on something for a dinner...

There is a place in LV that has a similar concept but slightly better quality... not sure about b-day discount...

There's a restaurant here in Phoenix that once a month have all you can eat lobster for 40 bucks.....Such a good deal and the lobsters amazing....My buddy didn't eat all day one time before he went and he ate 9 lobsters, and they are a good size!

Nordic Lodge in Rhode Island $75 a head.  All you can eat lobster, king crab, fillets, ribs, chicken, shrimp, tons of fish, salad bar, and an amazing desert bar as well.  It is expensive, but the food is incredible.

As far as value... I ate at this place called Golden Coral in Florida.  It is like $10 a head and they have a huge selection (though the quality is obviously not very good)

I like going to a place called Stir Crazy.  Not exactly all you can eat but they give you a bowl to put all your veggies in and a small bowl for the sauce and then they add the meat and rice on the side.  I have a method for piling up tons upon tons of veggies - I put the veggies to the top of the bowl and then I create tall posts all the way around using peapods enabling me to pile on tons of broccoli and baby corns.  Delicious way to eat tons of vegetables and I always have more than enough for a second leftover meal. 

Other than that though I'm not much of a buffet person.  Chinese buffets arr good but I always end up eating way too damn much.

I sometimes go to Crazy Buffet , Korean B.B.Q Buffet , China China Restaurant , King Buffet , Milpitas Buffet , and some other buffet that I don't remember....LOL...My friends and co-workers are always telling me a new buffet place every month... Some of these places have different dishes for Lunch and Dinner , also the prices are pretty reasonable... ranging from $9 for Lunch and $16 for dinner..There's also a Casino in Reno call BOOMTOWN.. I go there once a year to eat the Lobsters and Gamble

Wish Dad would get in here already and regale us with some tales of gluttony. Something tells me that man's done some damage over the years...

As for me, loads of "all you can eat" lunch places in the downtown core, with Indian usually being the most satisfying, although not necessarily with the happiest of endings...



And just as an aside, there used to be a few bars that had "all you can drink" nights back when I was in school: 20 dollar cover + tips = hazy memories + new 'best friends' (some good, some best seen through "beer goggles" ONLY).

There are the Brazilian BBQ restaurants that have all you can eat and I always have too much.  The best thing about these places is that you don't have to get up for food, they bring the food to you.  Sirloin, filet mignons, beef ribs, chicken, and any type of beef or chicken you could think of.  $25 in the city all you can eat, but I go locally for $10 cheaper.  If you're a big guy and like meats, this is great.

Golden Corral, or as I like to call it...Pitch til' you win, I love their Veggies and pot roast. Oh, and the BEST banana puddin' and Bread puddin'. $7.25 for Seniors.

The Mandarin in Canada has an all you can eat a mix of Chinese and Western foods. One of my favs. Good food at a good price. Good topic.

Hate em - these places are for fat fucks or cheap bastards.

 

I hit Red Lobster the other day for all you can hoist shrimp and ended up completely wrecking my day - couldnt drink beer or barely lay comfortably on the sofa...God didnt create us to stuff ourselves silly and be sick - he wanted us to enjoy our lifes and our buzzes.

 

Im done with any buffets unless they are before noon

i love that stuff good comment--Also chinese food buffetts are pretty decent, brazilian gauchos restaurants and shoneys breakfast down in the south.
