My frame is thin...im semi lanky although Im pretty strong. I have put on muscle over the years, but I never look big. More ripped if anything. Im convinced my genes dont allow me to look "big"...but I feel as if I could use a boost...
Anyone know any good supplements out there?? I took this thing called 1-T years back, basically a testosterone booster, but that shit gave me headaches and some iritability. It was basically legal steriods or some shit...similar side effects..
:Looking for something that does not have side effects such as
1) acne
2) hair loss
3) rage
4) anything else associated with roids
Suggestions?
I hit the gym pretty hard usually 4-5 times a week. But just frustrated...i switch shit up,...im very knowledgable when it comes to physical fitness (my undergrade is Kiniesiology)...any thoughts?

sounds like your burning more calories than your consuming. Take a weight gainer in the evening before bed to offset catabolism while u sleep and add a creatine supplement as well. GL.

THe problem with taking weight gainer is I will get fat..ive lost weight since HS and not that I was fat, but I had some pudge...

12 sets should be plenty..... probably need to add more weight and do between 6-10 reps max for bulking. May even finish up with max 2 rep.
That and eat 5 times a day. You probably have a high metabolism. Mine is off the charts high and the less reps I do, the larger the muscles get.

Fried...are you a PT?
I eat 5-6 meals a day..all small...i should put a little more protein in my system, but i am laying off some calories (friends weddingcoming up). I am not quite at 1g protein to 1lb of body weight...I weigh about 165 and probably do around 100 something of protein.
Most of my sets start like this..10-10-8-7 or something like that...except for chest..where I do 10-8-6-3 or so...at least on flat
i know addding more weight and decreasing reps are possible, but doesnt that just add strength as opposed to muscle mass?

I'm not a trainer..... but had plenty of them over the years and half my buddies are fitness freaks. They all have different approaches though.
I just know that I'm kinda hyperactive and when I do less sets/reps, I get stronger (and more muscle mass).
The reason trainers either strip you down or bulk up is probably because there is typically one predominant goal. Right now it's summer which means less clothing which pretty much means a leaner look.... for me at least.

I'm getting my ass kicked right now in tempo and endurance. Basically nonstop body weight exercises for an hour. Including wind sprints. Makes lifting weights look like a piece of cake.

thanks for the comments guys...trainer4u2...ill check it out thanks
Fried, makes sense, but overall, fat to muscle is a lot easier than nothing to muscle.
I did some good cardio today...20 mins of intervals on elliptical and 20 on the bike..burned about 500 calories

If youre looking to add mass I could write all night. I was in your exact spot a few years back. Was an all out war to keep my size up. I have tried everything possible and have it as close to a science for meself as I can - not sure if you'll have the same success.
Get a free software download of a program that tracks the nutritional value of your food so you can see what your really taking in daily. You'll be lower on protein and carbs than you thought - ramp it up. Break down your workouts AND WRITE THEM DOWN. Not your sets, not your weights, not your reps, just what you did - you won't forget the weights/reps/sets, but you will forget to switch up and do new things. Gotta always be doing different excercises to force the muscles to do different things and grow as a result. Sets of 10 are alright, but if youre trying to really move, something like 4 sets of 2-3 of your 5 rep max is gonna be more effective. Like I said and like you hear from others thats just the beginning. I'll write more some other time.
Seems like you and I are the type that have to work hard just to keep weight on. You have to work as hard as people trying to shed lbs.

This is an interesting thread, and I find myself in a similar situation as Crus. I just finished 8 weeks of bulking and was able add 10 lbs. Basically, I just EAT, EAT, EAT. And when I say EAT, it has to be clean food. Don't try and do a "dirty bulk" by consuming massive amounts of calories from fast food. I lifted fewer sets with heavy weight, and all but eliminated cardio from my routine.
Now I have a problem. By adding the 10 lbs, I also added a little bulk belly. Since summer is coming up soon, I just started to cut. Basically, lighter weights with more sets/reps, and added 3 30 min cardio sessions to my routine. As for diet, I've cut back to my maintence calorie intake (about 3500 calories per day).
I've only been at the cutting routine for a week, and I've already lost 5 lbs. It makes me feel like the 8 weeks of bulking was all for nothing.
PS. If anyone has a good cutting routine, please post it. I'm bored with what I've been doing

Id be int he same boat as Bobcat. If I really consume a lot of calories ill get a gut...ive seen it happen at times.
Ive written my workouts before, and in fact im very good at remembering what ive been doing there. I think the advice you guys are giving of less reps heavier weight is something I should give a shot. i think i am going to do that after my buddies wedding (may 20something)..cause I am still trying to stay real lean right now.
Degenerate...thanks for the comments. My frame is weird..i have a hard time getting abs (another story in its own right) and no matter how skinny i get..which right now im about 5'11 160 (yes I know) but i have decent arms, chest and back, but still cant quite shed that last leg of the spare tire...im convinced im doomed
i have to watch EVERYTHING i eat otherwise ill put on belly fat. Ive shed about 12-14 lbs int he last month.
I know people will say 5'11 160...wow ur like a wire...i am and im not...i can still put up 200 3-4 times on flat last set, and curl pretty good as well as other exercises. I am pretty strong and do have some definition.
Just constantly battling how do i want to play it. Get big..eat more but risk the way of gaining weight ihate..or stay more lean and look decently cut

Get a subscription to Muscle and Fitness. Throw it on your desk or in the bathroom or someplace you will read and reread and reread it. Best magazine out and you'll learn new shit everyday. I know Im a loser but I tab mine - anything new or different gets a tab. It has an occasional supplement ad, but nothing like the other magazines you read - they are unbearable.

3 grams of GABA before bedtime (just make sure you can handle it, start with 500 mg and work your way up) cheap, effective and doesn't pass the BBB.
I plan to start a cycle of h-drol (my PCT is reversitol) in a few weeks.

h-drol was brutal. Will never touch it again. Hemoplex, on the other hand, is about to get another cycle. I HAVE to do some post-cycle this time - how is reversitol??

I've been mountain biking for 3-4 weeks and love it. Can get the heart rate up 2-4 times a day real quick if you hit some hills. Everytime you run an errand, just take the bike. It's pretty cool.

Was talking about working out last night with one of my fitness freak buddies. All he does is three sets of pullups and pushups daily. 10% body fat and strong.

Everything I've heard about h-drol is that it's mild compared to some of the other shit out there. Were the side effects too much to handle for you? What was your dosing? I'm thinking 5 weeks for 50-75-75-100-100 mg/day. Reversitol is a good enough PCT for h-drol from my research. I also plan to taking AI Life support while on h-drol (as well as starting it a week before).
