Few foods are better than fresh SWEET CORN

Question

We are in the middle of Sweet Corn Season here in Northern Illinois/Indiana, and it is good! I love fresh sweet corn! No, not the crap they roll into the local super market that was harvested 2 weeks ago and has been picked over. But grabbing the freshly picked stuff from a farmers stand out in the country.

There is an awesome sweet corn grower that I frequent and cannot get enough of this tasty treat. I have had corn for dinner almost every night for the past few weeks now. Its a shame that the Sweet Corn season is almost over. I will probably buy a bunch this weekend, cook it up, cut off the kernels and freeze it to eat this winter.

Anyone else a sweet corn degenerate like me? Or am I just a country hilljack?

Mix a little chili powder and some lime juice with your butter before you slather it on the corn.

Had some at the fair last weekend.  they dipped it in butter and i blanketed it with seasoned salt!

So how does everyone eat their cob? I utilize the rotational method where I eat up and down as i rotate the corn.

My wife and others eat it straight across like a typewriter and move up to the next section.

I've seen both methods equally so I am guessing it is close to a 50-50 split.

I also bite off pretty much a whole row at a time before chewing and swallowing.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Just got back from the store and bought some for tonight. &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;I&#x27;m actually a big fan of the Smart Balance butter spray....easier for coverage than a pat of butter.  Then a little kosher salt and feshly ground black pepper.

Did some on the grill at work today.  Just put a little olive oil cooking spray and wrapped them in tin foil.  About 20-25 minutes on a medium grill (350-375).  Remove from foil and top as you like.  This really helps the corn keep its heat, by the way.

Put on on the heating rack if you have one....and be sure to turn them every few minutes.

nice! grilling corn at work, i am jealous!

we soak them in water for an hour then put them on the grill in the husk still. cook until husks are charred on both sides. then throw them in a cooler to keep hot. they will last in the cooler for hours! great for a weekend party.

I just go for it and then figure it out afterwards with a hunt/peck method...I like butter, salt, pepper... the lime juice works also along with chili powder...Another idea that worked well for an asian condiment is a little soy sauce... I discovered this once in a situation where there are a lack of condiments and I only had a soy sauce packet... The soaking for a hour sounds like a good idea...
