For me going to a chiroprater is not exactly what I want to do but found doing one armed push ups in the football stance a great help to crack ones back ten reps on both hands independently then standing reaching as far up on the parade rest stance and settting the spine down to the small of my back accomplishes everthing 'cept the neck adjustment . ...the three point football stance stance is legs about 4 feet apart with a turn to hand set under shoulder the twist does lower back hips and the strain does up to shoulders, The more difficult superman one handed not as effective in adjustment. (legs sholder with apart  straight backed one hand outside of shoulder)

i used to have back pain constantly.  i don't think it ever goes away but mine is significantly reduced.  maybe everyone is different but i would suggest doing these things will significantly reduce back pain, in order of importance:

    1. eliminate/limit wheat and gluten
    2. eliminate/limit sugar
    3. stretch

In the early stage of back injury, first aid generally involves ice, rest and drugs such as aspirin.  Afterwards, stretching, strengthening and aerobic exercises help promote recovery.  For examples, walking, swimming and floor exercises.  However any exercise that causes pain should be avoided such as sit-ups or heavy lifting.

Why did eliminating gluten and sugar help your back pain?

my amateur opinion is that i think wheat, gluten and sugar create a lot of inflammation which causes sore joints and other issues.

all i can tell you is that i had back and neck pain for a while.  i thought it was because i worked out a lot with heavy weights and my form wasn't great (you know how working out is in your teens and early 20's) and i didn't stretch enough.  so i changed that.  it helped a little but not much.

i thought maybe it was the way i was sleeping.  that wasn't it.

i started reading about the bad effects of wheat, gluten and sugar so i went on one of those 4-5 week elimination diets where i cut out basically anything that could be bad- nuts, dairy, sugar, wheat, gluten, nightshades, anything not organic.  my back/neck pain that never got much better with stretching, chiropractor, etc was eliminated.  since then, i experimented here and there and i think i have a pretty good understanding of what causes pain and inflammation- wheat, gluten and sugar.  i don't really consume dairy either (except ice cream occasionally) but i think that's more for my stomach.

there are some good books bout this.  good calories, bad calories and wheat belly are two i can think of off hand.

but what i'd recommend to everyone is a strict elimination diet for at least 30 days and see what that does.

    Interesting..

I've had a bad back for years after doing something really stupid during a move and now I just deal with it..also I wake up with back pain as you mentioned too.

What can you eat if you eliminate all that? I dont think I can do the veg and meat, semi Atkins very well..how have you done that and still maintained sanity?

it's really not that bad.  you can do anything for 30 days.  organic/grass fed meats, organic vegetables and organic fruits mostly.  there are other things like beans, quinoa and stuff like that.

I've had a bad back for years after doing something really stupid during a move and now I just deal with it..also I wake up with back pain as you mentioned too.

What can you eat if you eliminate all that? I dont think I can do the veg and meat, semi Atkins very well..how have you done that and still maintained sanity?

it's really not that bad.  you can do anything for 30 days.  organic/grass fed meats, organic vegetables and organic fruits mostly.  there are other things like beans, quinoa and stuff like that.

now, i still have back pain and neck pain but it's much better.  of course, i don't stick to the no wheat/gluten/sugar diet either.  i just limit them.  wheat and gluten really aren't that hard to stay away from.  pasta, bread and cereals are the major culprits.  but, every week or so, the wife will make pasta or some type of sandwich and i can definitely feel it afterwards.

also, beer is very bad.  i'm almost completely off of it.  i drink wine because my wife always has a bottle open but if i want something else, i usually drink a higher quality, cleaner liquor like tequila.

Got to agree with Club on this. All I know is when I eat clean i.e. no sugar, wheat and very minimal processed foods I feel 100% better overall including no back or joint pain. Maybe it's a placebo effect or maybe it's legit but it really does wonders. Disclaimer: Currently not doing this and feel its effects.

I have had lower back pain for years to varying degrees and stretching out my glutes, hammies and hips/pelvic girdle feels amazing. When I don't stretch the pain returns.

I sit at a desk a lot and I know that is the root cause. Need to get better at moving more and posture while working.

Since last week for the first time I am having pretty bad muscle spasms in the muscle that runs along the spine on the right side mid back. Never had this issue before it has always been lower back stiffness. It has literally incapacitated me, every movement has to be slow and calculated. Every so often that muscle just seizes with about 3 seconds of shooting pain until it releases. Now it is effecting other areas of my back I assume by over compensating to avoid the spasms.

Slowly getting better but man it has wiped me out the past week. Never experienced anything like this before. Sucks to get old.

a cure for a charlie horse spasm for me is a pinch of salt under the tongue once read these are caused by electolyte defessiency, soudium calcium potassium is a electrolyte My feet big toe would lock after heavy excersising and found this relieved the spasm almost immediately. with in a second or two. Use it now for leg back and other consticted form of muscle induced pain.

a yoga stretch also helps by staying at your deskpointing one foot forward and turning one 90 degrees away from the reach with the hand to the sky and tilt towords the pointed foot till a slight discomfort forms count back 10 and slowly release this poise then change the way you point your feet and do the other side 3 to 4 reps on each side lessens all pain to a numb for around 24 hours for myself. It is a natural way to release endorphins . not a cure but a treatment level.

well old school understanding . you are as you believe you are.
if you know you are in pain than as it it is but understand this is a bit of perception cause if a human realized all than the illlumination of this would make invicible.
and an understanding we are made of light
difffent ear maybe, so hear and understand
the proof. plants eat light through photosythisis we eat plants or animals who eat plants this eats light so indirectly or directly we eat light thus we are the illimine. light is, but we are less or so it would appear or taught thus the pain of light and darkeness of suffering

maybe another way to think of this eistiens therom e=mc squared enrgy equals mass times the speed of light squared. solving this for speed of light being constant or consitant then
energy divided by light squared equals your mass therefore everything can be defined by light

Beat me to it Wogdog, Basic yoga, featuring the plank, eliminated my lower back pain.  Compliment with some downward facing dog, cat pose, feels great, but the mother of all is the plank.  I also echo earlier thoughts on food reducing inflammation.  I'm 55% vegan, ha!
