Dude is an absolute expert at flopping the exact moment he loses control of the ball. He opens his mouth to a gape, and falls with hands in the air and feet behind him like he is sky diving.

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain. The only thing he loses is ability to respond to the ball. But he knows when he has lost the ball before the sky dive.

Soccer has CRUEL results sometimes. But to take down Mexico in added time on a flop is the cruelest punishment I have ever seen.
Would have been tremendous to see Ochoa a few more games at least. Not a fan of Robben, Huntelaar and Van Persie, but they gorse the action. People underestimated Holland, and they are disproving everyone.
Sorry for Mexico though. They played really well. They looked world class.
    Sad way to decide it.

and the other two times he did get fouled in the box??? Robben is a pro and VETERAN. Mexico's Chicharito could win an Oscar for his dives. Amazing how nobody complains when he does it and it favors their bets lol.

Mexico played well, however they gave up after scoring the first goal. They deserved to lose with their "prevent win" strategy.

    Sorry your lost your bets

Mexico had a valiant effort And played world class football.
But this is a part of the game, goes both ways. Until there is an adjustment to the rules you must accept it.

I agree it is "part of the game"
Holland was doing nothing scoring wise, and I really don't know why Mexican defenders were taking chances near the yellow card area trying to kick the ball away near the end of the game. I told myself "Robben is gonna flop. Be careful" "Let Robben have the chance, You have the goalie who can take down a straight on shot"
    NO.
They did not play to their own strength--their keeper.

Once again, a UEFA squad plays even (not dominating) but gets the result. To me, this was a mental  mistake. A fumble in the redzone.
Holland is NOT that much better. The acting job was a hoax that he pulled off. If that is "part of th game," then the game sucks. Or the ref should have called Robbens for faking a trip and been sent off. THAT I would have applauded!!!

In Amrican football, we have something similar, like defensive pass interference. You see a lot of receivers acting like they're being held or pushed on deep pass plays at the end of games. Puts an offense on the goal line for the run in TD..

robbens is a great scorer, and he has certainly watched himself on film to perfect his 'skydive.' THAT is what gave Holland the advancement here. That was the work invested that paid huge dividends for Holland soccer.

THAT, and Mexico playing back maybe, and also not trusting their goalie and playing away from Robbens' legs at the end of the game.
ROBBENS DOES NOT FLOP EARLY IN GAMES, OR WHEN THEY ARE AHEAD IN A MATCH !!!!!!!!!

I don't think the destiny of two teams, or the hopes of millions of aficionados, or a great match, should EVER be decided by this:

sounds like you lost a ton of money based on the diatribe you are writing about a penalty call. I am guessing you wouldn't have done the same if it were mexico that received that call.

I'm with you Allan. Did you hear how he actually admitted to flopping today during an interview!? he said that he flopped during the 1st half but not that last one at the end of the game. yeah right.

What a sneaky cheating Dutchman that guy is I don't like him I hope Costa Rica spanks them next round!

To follow up on yur football analogy.   In the SB 2 years ago it was clearly pass interference infraction against Crabtree but there was no way they would call it cuz it was a bad pass, a bad route, and would have decided the game.   With all the infractions they miss/let go during a soccer game there is no way this should have warranted a call when u knew it would mean end of the game.  I think in hockey OT it's calledc swallowing the whistle.

From that angle, looks like he does step on his foot. Defender should not be flexing his knee there, and should be treating Robbens like a piece of chine in the glass cabinet.  I still reiterate then, that he is not looking to score there. It is time to swallow the whistle. I can see if he is tackled while the defense is on its heels, and therefore the defense is cheating to save a score. This is clearly not the case. Game should NEVER be decided like this.

First game ever when a team is down 0-1 in the 88 minute, and pulls out the victory. And I think that is due to the bad call here.

The most infamous pass interference was the Ohio St vs Miami title game in 2002. I was stunned.

The only contact was touching Robbens' foot. Robbens is so aggressive, sly and unpredictable in the box, it makes it difficult to guard. Defender's only mistake was that contact at the foot. Referees should understand the complexity of the game and the challenges for defenders versus forwards who move unpredictably and force contact with defenders, then in frustration losing the ball, they skydive.

Robbens was going to be scoreless this match. That is his problem. Van Persie and Huntelaar were ask going to be shut down. Great defending with one critical mistake.

It is possible that the referees "missed one" in the first half. Robbens was fouled. Make up calls however are not in the spirit of a consistent and fair arbitration.

    The ending is incredibly haunting.

something about Robben I just detest. Looks like he'd be the most arrogant son of a bi*ch in person.
