Considering they drew with Ghana, and found themselves down a goal after 63 minutes, then needed 120 minutes to advance past Algeria, I would say they do need to play the finals. Especially since Argentina/Netherlands have much stronger power numbers and likely won't be missing two very key players. Plus I'm sure they will put up a better effort than Brazil did and come out ready to play.
Germany did everything right today and Brazil did everything wrong and this is an extreme example of what can happen. No guarantee Germany plays this good in the final and their opponent plays as bad as Brazil did today.

Good analysis Ktrain. I agree with everything you said. However, after seeing every single Argentina and Holand match, I cant see Argentina getting within 2 goals of them. There too deep, disciplined, and in sync and will limit Messi. The only chance I see is with Holland. I see them exploiting wing back Boetang with Robben to set up attacking goal scoring opportunities in the bottom third. Nonetheless, Germany beats either one
