Does Spain regret firing Lopetegui now?

Come on now who's bright idea was it to fire the manager who had groomed and stamped his imprint on this team for 4 years only to be canned 2 days before the WC? Did they not think there would be repercussions? Was this result not obvious after their uninspired play in the group stages? This might well have been the end of an era as much of the 2010 team are headed out the door.

The way they played against Morocco when a loss could've seen them fail to make the knockouts, means this result can't be a surprise to anyone.

Spain was out coached today plain and simple, sitting on a 1-0 lead in the knockout vs a somewhat offensive host nation. Really? I would not be surprised if it was Russia's plan all along to keep it tied no matter what, park the bus and go to penalties.

That seemed obvious when they had 10 players back and a measly 1 SOA and 25 % possession. Still doesn’t explain the lack of imagination from the Spain side.
