Fantasy Football top pick?
God I love fantasy football! I hope we have a season.

I agree that QB is deep this year but I don't want Eli or Freeman as my starting QB all year. Freeman may break out this year but I don't want to gamble on that position. I would put Schaub ahead of both of them by a few rounds in a draft too.

Cappa,
I'm getting a boner just thinking about fantasy football.
I can't wait for FA to get started to really start putting projections together. Let me ask you this. How would you rank the first 5 RB's, 5 QB's, and 5 WR's?

QB: Rodgers, Vick, Manning, Rivers, Brady
RB: Foster, Charles, CJ, AP, McCoy
WR: Andre, White, Calvin, Bowe, Jennings
Damn that was harder than I thought. These rankings are subject to change (I had Foster 3rd or 4th earlier in this thread). Who's your top 5s so far?

As far as drafting a QB early, I'm not saying it's wrong. I've seen plenty of people have success with that strategy, it just never worked for me. I think it's a lot easier to find a serviceable QB than a RB or WR. I typically go RB-WR-RB with a top 6-7 pick and WR-RB-RB or even WR-WR-RB with picks 8-12. I always take a RB in round 3. I find that the quality of RBs in round 3 are as good as the ones in round 2, so might as well take an elite WR 2nd round. I got McCoy round 3 last year, Turner 2 years ago and Gore 3 years ago. There are many different strategies that work, this is the one that works for me.

As always these could change next week. I personally love drafting towards the end of the first round. I have had more success there than in the first half of the round. I really fell in love with getting an elite QB(last year was Rodgers at 9) and pairing him with his best WR(i reached for Jennings in rd 2). But I do agree with you on going RB in rd 3.
This year, depending on draft spot, will most likely be different with the deep pool at QB. You are definitely swaying my views on this years draft. I think it would pay off most to go RB-RB-WR or RB-WR-RB almost regardless of where my draft position is.
In mocks I have been seeing guys like Flacco, Cassel, even Matty Ice falling to round 6 and below.

Congrats on the first pick Cappa, although I agree with you that this year probably is the toughest to have it.
If I were in your shoes I would probably take CJ first(well actually I would toss a coin) but you really can't go wrong with either. It' really tough but I think looking at CJ's division he may have a better year and the Titans might(and I really stress that word) have a better passing game to open it up for him. Downside his he may give up some goal line touches which would suggest taking AP.
I just think AP is going to see tough defenses(especially D Lines) 6 times in the NFC North. Haven't looked in to the rest of either players schedules so I may be wrong in that assessment.
My big question for you now is who are you eyeballing for you 2nd and 3rd round choices?

why would you ever draft a quarterback in the 5th and 6th rounds...any one of the 3 (romo, big ben, or shaub) will be your starter EVERY week unless it's their bye week...very bad strategy..if you are going to go RB,WR WR WR QB..you should without question take another running back with your 6th pick..not another quarterback.
