It doesnt say a Minor leaguer is not eligible...  It says "ANY" player on your roster and is "also eligible for rookie of the year...

The fact that it says prospect it is implied that all minor leaguers are eligible,, Its also saying that a rookie is eligible as well

Like i said before to you guys this is also my first year using these rules. When Uriss submitted his keepers to me he had Harper as a 4 year keeper and i told him to take it off and use his prospect contract. I too thought under these rules we could keep a minor leaguer under the prospect contract. If that is not the case it is my fault in the Harper case. Here are out choices.

    A. Include minor leaguers

    B. This is only would involve Uriss. If you guys say we should not include minor leaguers he could add Harper to his 4 year contract like he first wanted too and would have to decide which of his other players he would like to take a contract away from.

Its a prospect contract. I dont see why would should not include minor leaguers. I would just have to re write it to make everyone understand it better...

You can't brake up those 2 words. If you do...that means you can give any player on your roster a 4-year contract because you stand out "ANY".

The player must be ELIGIBLE for the ROY award.

Alright...so you guys talked before this. He wanted Harper like STUBS has Strasburg.

I say go with option "B" because you already talked to him about this and he had the impression that he could give him the contract.

But to clear things up...the fact of the matter is...the name should be changed to a "rookie contract" and should only be given to rookies.

    Also...nobody looks into THIS quote...

"It could also be a great tool to reserve a rookie prospect."

It's the final sentence on the "Franchise Tags" page. You can give your PROSPECT a franchise tag and then give him the rookie contract next year if he's worthy of it.

Probably the way you should have started this discussion.

Because you're going by the NAME of the contract alone...not the rules behind it. I'm in no way "making shit up" since everything I said was coming DIRECTLY from the rules.

I was told when the season started I could use the prospect contract on Harper

Probably the way you should have started this discussion.

Because you're going by the NAME of the contract alone...not the rules behind it. I'm in no way "making shit up" since everything I said was coming DIRECTLY from the rules.

The only reason you're so adamant on your side is because you were told SPECIFICALLY before the season started that you could keep him by the commish.

All I'm saying is that the rules are stated differently than what was told to you.

I won't lie...I was trying to be manipulative here to get Harper. But any time I talked about the rules...there was no lying involved. I don't know if you read the rules on the site...but it's not like philly and I are pulling them out of our asses.

This will be a problem for this year only. Next year we are adding a minor league roster.

So...with that said...can we have a new "prospect contract" every season? Or would we still have to bump our old prospect for a new one? I think we should have a discussion about that in the offseason.

Like I can't have Hosmer, Hellboy AND Britton...but I can have one for 4 years and get a guy like Montero next year...and he'll start HIS 4 years.

I have not gone through and made any final decisions on the minor league roster for next year. When the time comes i will go through it. Im thinking if you draft a prospect and you activate him when he is called up you have him for 4 years. If 2 years you drafted Hosmer, Hellickson and Britton you would have them all for the following 4 years after they were called up.

    You cannot manipulate me

Also at the end of the season, each team will be allowed one Prospect Contract. This contract can be used on any player who is on your roster and is also eligible for Major League’s Rookie of the Year award.

Looks like I have to post this AGAIN. Where does it say that you can give a minor leaguer a contract?

I'll break it down for you.

"This contract can be used on any player who is on your roster"

It doesn't specifically mean "ANY" player...because if it did...that means you can give Romero a 4-year contract just because he is "ANY" player.

"Also eligible for Major League's Rookie of the Year award"

A minor leaguer can't be eligible for the Major League Rookie of the Year award. Plain and simple.

The problem is how it was stated and what YOU were told. "AND" should be "WHO" and "PROSPECT CONTRACT" should be "ROOKIE CONTRACT"

I just don't appreciate being made a fool of because I read the rules properly.

Just drop it. No need to argue. If anything i fucked up. I dont see why Uriss can not just franchise him at the end of the year then prospect. In a way it would be better for him because you will have him for 5 years instead of 4 . Problem solved?

If anything...this hurts URISS a little bit. If he gives a prospect contract to Harper...than he loses his rookie for next year.

If he picks up a hot rookie in July who is now eligible, he can give him the prospect contract, Harper the franchise tag (because he was picked in the final 10 rounds of the draft) and he'll have both next year. And lets say Harper breaks his leg like Kendry Morales (God forbid), then he has lost out on a top prospect and won't get that hot pickup in July back.

The same place that it says the player MUST BE ELIGIBLE for the MAJOR LEAGUE (not Minor League) Rookie of the Year award.

I'm just saying...a minor leaguer can't be a MLB ROY...and that's the way I interpret it. I don't interpret it based on the fact that it's called a "prospect contract".

Does anyone else get fired up when they see this  little shit. I don't know if it's just me...but it pisses me off when someone uses it. It's like saying, in a form of an emoticon, that you are a fucking moron and I am right. Am I the only one who gets this vibe?
