Old Threads Magically Appearing

nobody commented on this thread since august of last year yet it is at the top of the page? how does this happen? why does this happen?

This happens when someone comments on the post, so the user in question probally searched for a post about Goldman and entered a post which bumped it up to the top.

It happens because the thread is bumped by Touts or new alias sign-ups.  When the user is banned by a mod their posts automatically disappear, but there is nothing we can do about the threads remaining at the top of the page.

We come across this issue quite often.  Although perplexing at first glance, it is just a sign that our mods are doing a tremendous job.
