Lets get A perspective on this game. This SMU team isn't nowhere as good as any of the last three years when Jones was at Hawai'i. Padron isn't even half of what former Hawai'i QB Colt Brennan is, and neither are their skilled posotions. Their defense isn't that good either. TCU has some exceptional speed on D and can cover from end to end in a heartbeat. That's alright though, it's your money. If you want to throw it away on SMU, go ahead..

TCU is one of the teams that has no choice but to run up the score. They can't afford to win close games. The coaches know it, the players know it, and everyone else with half a brain knows it!!! TCU runs it up...and BIG!!!!

If this was a home game for TCU I would probably lean towards giving the points to SMU but unfortunately it's not. I feel SMU will keep this game close at home. Although SMU didn't play any top tier team their rush defense does not seem that bad ranking 18th in the nation against the rush but I wish i could say the same about SMU's pass defense which is just plain horrible.
TCU's strength is in their run game which will probably test SMU's defense early. If TCU is not successful I'm sure they will air it out on SMU.
June Jones has been in SMU's program long enough to build his type of team with his type of players which shows in their passing game. SMU's offense spreads the ball around a lot to their WR's who already have multiple catches and td's this season among 3 of them.
TCU did lose some key players to the NFL on defense and like my bro irisheyez stated TCU's defense is not the same...still strong but not the same.
Not going to over think this one and just going to lay down the hammer....
SMU final +18
Aloha and good luck to all
I'm with you Bigdaddy, SMU +18, friday night home dog, 2 teams that are familiar with each other, I'm guessing its not a blow out.

Gentleman : I have been on this site since Nov 2000,and I do not post very often . That being said I do believe the OVER is the play here. Before you pick a side here ask yourself " Would I fix on this game if it was on Sat ?" Probably not. Take the over and hope the weather is not a factor. If anyone around the Dallas area is on here, Can you post the weather close to game time?? I am going to try to call the Univ. later on to get a weather update. I have done it before and it always helps. Thanks gents. I love all of the posts on here. The input is always worth reading . May the Fix be with you. Runnin Mitch P.S. You've got to respect anyone who posts a 2G fix in here!

I hate goin against you amigo....but I think TCU has no choice to see how many they can score...especially with a national tv audience. Good luck this weekend!!!

Good point. By the way, lefty1209, What's going on with this sluggish start in Storrs? UConn was sooo tough last season. I expected big things this year with all these returning players!
Major letdown this year!!! Temple...you gotta be kidding me!!!! Is it basketball season yet!!!!

i love betting when 70 percent of the public is on one team. come on guys, this is gambling, not a money give away. i'll take the 17 all day and take my 14 point loss. its so funny coming on here and seeing every claim till their death that their picks are sure things. come on, after last night when 70 percent was on miami, do you really think vegas is gonna give you two in a row? this isnt charity. ill take the points and play on the books side tonight.
SMU loses 35-21, but still cover. the name of the game.

All the people betting TCU are the same people who lost their paycheck with New Orleans on Monday. Pitt stunk out the joint last night. Do you really think Vegas is gonna lose to nationally televised (read: heavily wagered) games in a row? Do you really think you know more than the guys who set the line? Just ask yourself: where does Vegas want my money? Then do the opposite.
I'm seeing a back door cover --or-- a fumble as TCU is going in for the covering score --or-- a crucial pass interference call late in the 4th quarter. The possibilities are endless.

I hate to go against you Bigdaddyhpd, but with both schools less than 20 miles from each other there isn't really a home field advantage here. I think TCU rolls here...

Everyone....Good Luck tonight....It will either be a blowout...or a close game.....70% on TCU......I fade.....Vegas will not lose twice in a row.....with Miami covering last night.....I wont say the "L" word....but....I REALLY like my chances....
This has been a great thread! Sorry Nitro that the puss looks bad...Either your gay, living alone, or surf too much internet porn!!!
She has no kids!!
Hey....Also took the over for a small wager.....Really small....$100. I REALLY need SMU to cover!
I will either enjoy my time in NYC this weekend.....or eat at McDonalds each meal!!

I'm astonished there's so many on this thread cheerleading SMU.
Sure, the Mustangs won 8 games LY and have definitely improved... but, let's face it, fellas... this is still a program that went 1-11 in both 2008 and 2009... and when you're that kind of college football doormat, "up" is the only direction you got!
Unlike others, I'm not reading too much into the SMU win over Washington State LW... considering it was the first Mustang win over a BCS school in the past 10 years! The SMU defense (already having allowed 9 TDs TY) couldn't force 1 turnover against the sorry ass WSU Cougars!
Before beating WSU, SMU lost their opener vs Texas Tech... and beat UAB in Week 2. Texas Tech is currently ranked #73 in NCAA Total Defense. Washington State and UAB are at #107 and #103 (out of 120). TCU is currently ranked at #4!
In terms of total offense, UAB is #51, Texas Tech #78, and Washington State #88. TCU is currently ranked #14!
Frog QB Dalton is absolutely on fire... and TCU now 42-21 ATS since 2005! I eagerly got on board a couple days ago... LARGE, as they say:

1) This is the type of game that we should all stay away...Why? The lines makers have only one game to concentrate on and the line is very sharp because of that.
2) This is not an away game for TCU, it will be like a home game for both, but TCU has a larger following. So negate the home field advantage.
3) It's about value in these sharp games. The back-door cover is risky if the game is close...So I ask my follow posters, Is it safer to take a 1st half wager on TCU at -10.5? And not have to worry about a back-door cover.
What do you think? Is SMU strong enough to cover the 1st half?

No worries bro I started off strong and have been really terrible as of late...
You could be right as my initial thoughts were on TCU but felt stronger on the under in this game but my damn local closed the total line for this game. I thought that if I really liked the under I should go with SMU with taking 18 points if I feel that this one is going under the total.
Stats & trends are nice to use as I use them a lot myself but in the end it's all a guessing game my brother cause anything can happen on any given day
