USC at Ohio St +7 O/U 45.5
Last yr at home USC won 35-3, USC had 348 yds to 207 for OS, but rushing yds USC had 164 to only 71 for OS.
Last yr Sanchez threw for all the USC tds, except the pick 6 by Maualuga. Maualuga and Sanchez are starting in the NFL now and can only cheer for USC.
Damian Williams is back for USC (2 tds last yr) but QB is unproven with Barkley.
T. Pryor is a blue chip NFL class player and USC is worried about his ability to scamble for unscripted big plays. The key for OS is their passing game, OS will need to keep USC honest with the run but their weapon is Pryor's arm combined with his run threat. It will give the secondary a tough read. If he learns to pump fake, watch out and figure he is good for 2 tds by himself. Remember Texas. USCs new LB's will either make a name for themselves this game or be just shadows of the last yr stars.
OS had 3 FG's vs Navy and their kicking game is better than USC, so if it is close that could be a problem for USC.
Problem is OS defense against the run. Navy showed the weakenss of the OS Def by running the option. OS def line is big with the frt 4 weighing in at over a half a ton. But their lateral movement was a step off and the OS LBs couldn't contain Navy. Look for Carroll to exploit the outside and try to speed around the ends with his fresh stable of rotating RB's with bubble screens and end arounds. The USC O line is grade A this year and look for them to wear down the OS's D line for some ball control and an extended time of possession in the 2nd H.
As for the USC passing gm, all I can say is watch out Anderson Russell. Damian Williams is a burner, not like the Navy's WRs who scored 2 tds on you. As for Barkley you don't have to be an experienced QB to toss it to a wide open receiver as he showed in the San Jose St gm.
I hear OS fans saying Navy is really good this year, or they only came close because they ran the option. Granted Navy had a big play 85 yd td pass in the 2nd H and Pryor had timely int in the 4th Q to make it close but really Navy? Is Navy really good this yr? Think they will be in the running for BCS title gm? Love die hard fans with rose colored glasses.
The hype about the horseshoe noise and the fans is just talk. Noise doesn't score tds. USC has been practicing with speakers so loud Barkley couldn't hear himself yell. But the home/away factor is worth a few points in college. Kids are young and emotions run high. If OS can score early they could put the slap of reality on the USC band wagon and it will be a "learning situation"(ie close game)
Finally this is a huge game for Ohio St. The season is on the line. Redemption with a win and be back in the hunt or drop out of the
rankings completely. I know people will get mad but the problem is
Tressel has a poor record in big gms. I won't go through them all.
Score needs to be 26-19 for USC to hit the spread and hit the O/U

maybe 2 tm 6.5 pt teaser with the over (puts it at USC -.5 and over 39) they are so tempting but I gotta lay off the sucker teasers.
