Gamecocks!!

The Pack is much improved but not enough to hang with an SEC team...Not even in their own house. The Cocks will get beat up in their league again this year but so would 80% of Div 1, That means nothing here. They will win only 6 games because they play in the toughest conference that has ever existed but when they line up against a middle of the pack team from a sorry conference like the ACC....Pssssst Please.

Last year S.C was -11 in turn overs and Garcia had 6 td's and 8 int's.

NCST was +8 in turn  overs and Wilson had 17 td's and 1 int.

Before last years shutout NCST won  4 straight against SC all by double digits. I think they will be back on track in this game.

 Last year they lost to Vandy and Clemson but won NCST.

In 07 they lost again to Vandy and Clemson but won N. Carolina.

So in tne last 2 years there 33% against the ACC, and only won 1 of the last 5 agmes with NCST.

Just so we're working with facts here and not bullshit, the ACC and SEC split 12 games last season.

And just so we're clear again, South Carolina is 4-7 against the ACC since 2002.

You're reasoning is complete rhetoric.  Every poll available right now would disagree.  If what you said was the case, then the entire SEC would be in the top 25 before the 3 ACC teams that are their (GT, FSU, NC) and certainly before a couple MWC teams and a WAC team.  Toughest conference that has ever existed?  No, biggest contract with ESPN that has ever existed ($2 billion) and therefore most over-hyped conference there has ever been.

NCST has the advantage at QB, which is even more important early in the season when offenses are totally clicking yet. Russell Wilson had a 17-1 TD/INT ratio last year, while Stephen Garcia's ratio was 6-8. Garcia had 7 more INT's even though he attempted 150 less passes. SC's Defense will not be as good as last years, they lost alot of key starters. Also, one of SC's starting DE's will not be playing, which is a key position for a mobile QB like Wilson.
 
One small trend I found that worried me a little about NCST is there slow starts. They have not beaten there first Div 1A opponent of the season since 2002.
 
2008 - L   S. Carolina      (Lost 6 of first 8 games)
2007 - L   UCF               (Lost 5 of first 6 games)
2006 - L*  Akron             (3-9 on the season)
2005 - L   Virginia Tech   (Lost 4 of first 6 games)
2004 - L*  Ohio St        
2003 - L*  Wake Forest   (Lost 2 of first 3 games)
2002 - W  New Mexico
 
* NCST played a Div 1AA school in the first game of the season, these were there first Div 1A opponents
 
Putting this trend aside, NCST has the better all around team going into this one.

Someone either doesn't like ESPN or the SEC. I would find it hard to believe that this is some sort of conspiracy. Get over it man.

Florida winning the BCS championship 3 times has absolutely nothing to do with how South Carolina will perform against NCST tomorrow night.

I'm not surprised that you also miss the point of RunTellMatt's post. Seems par for the course around here.

Matt was stating that ESPN has a vested interest in promoting the SEC in every one of their outlets (articles online, raido shows, television previews) because they've shelled out $2 billion to the conference and need to recoup a significant return on their television investment. Hype creates excitement. Excitement attracts viewers. Viewers attract ratings. Ratings attract advertising dollars. Advertising dollars run the industry.

So, yea, it's really big stretch to think that a company with $2 billion invested in something would promote the hell out of that thing each and every preseason.

He wasn't saying it was a conspiracy. He was saying it's reality.

I fully expect that every word of that went over your head, and that you'll respond with something that makes so little sense that it hurts my head.

You guys are talking about TV marketing and advertising and not who is the best conference. I work in advertising and the best product will usually sell the most that's nothing new. The ACC/Big 12 also have a contract with EPSN and their big brother ABC. Both are owned by Disney, none of that changes the fact that the SEC IS the best conference and their fans are diehard viewers. CBS afternoon rating for SEC games trump the BIG 10 morning games on ESPN, but i guess CBS is next on your hit list and they too are part of the madness. Your logic is ...well unlogical. I don't want to argue so lets agree to disagree. Good luck with your picks.

i think most would agree that -5 seems like it's too much for s.car to be getting. however, the line's been dropping, so the vegas in me is saying the vegas knows something's up. leaning ncstate, but more than likely i'll wait for any strange line moves up til gametime.

Only thing I like is the over.  Both D's are not that good especially with S.C. and the injuries.  Plus, you know both teams will score some points.

logical pick here is Under 46.  Just cant see SC scoring much, and both defenses good enough to keep each other from scoring.

Sissipher - SC "D" should be decent.. SC "O' probably horrible.. so by your statement NC should cover or almost cover by themselves.. If that's the case.. you should be on NC State... If I were to bet this game.. Fade the Over.. and take NC State.. Sharp    Just one mans opinion.
