Just read the NC's RB Elzy is ineligable for this game.  That leaves them with Draughn and little else in the backfield. 

Was initially leaning toward NC given its players are a bit more experienced, but now I'm not so sure. 

If Draughn re-tweaks his ankle or Tenn bottles him up effectively, then NC could be forced to throw it more.  That could help this game go over.

I don't buy into the whole home game philosophy for Tenn, I think the proximity of both makes that a draw.  And though the argument that Tenn's last four games were against lesser competition has some validity, it should not be overlooked that the wins also coincided with a shift in their QB play. 

Frankly, I don't think either team will win this one by controlling the run.  Both teams have some big receivers.  The winner will have to have success in the air. 

I'm leaning toward the over.

NORTH CAROLINA -1

The reason is simple : defense!!

Tennessee is 70th in total yards allowed & North Carolina is 32nd.

The ACC has looked dominant in bowl games thus far and I continue to ride that train vs. the SEC today.

I believe that a well-seasoned Yates will pull this one out & the fact that N.C. gains most of their yards through the air (266 / ypg)bodes well for them today as Tennessee struggles against the pass, giving up nearly 230 ypg through the air, Ranked a whopping 82nd in PASSING DEFENSE.

lol ... was going to say the same thing. And I was FOR Tennessee in that game.

Problem with Tennessee was they made the substitutions, but none of the players who were on the field for the previous play came off.

I think I'm going with Tennessee here. Dooley and Vols fans can call this year a "success" if they wrap it up with a bowl win after starting 0-5 in the SEC. If he doesn't pull it off, it's going to be a long offseason for both him and the Vols.

Wish I'd played it earlier when UT was a 1-point dog.

[/Quote ] good points osu200200...not buying in to the vols 4 game winning streak at the end of the season beating memphis 1-11,,ole miss 4-8 vanderbilt 2-10 and kentucky 6-6  .. so must side with hard trying UNC squad that has been bowling more recently and coach butch davis a former canes coach,, and browns in the NFL to devise a plan to shut down this young vols team..on defense lookout for corner dontar williams to pick the young vols qb off at least once and on offense look for qb t-j yates to hook up with tight-end ryan taylor  for some nice plays to keep the chains moving ...UNC D gets the job done here ...UNC 31---13.....
