In addition to the late arriving Bulldogs...cross country 3000 miles no less.....seems everybody has forgotten about Mike Teel.....This kid is a solid QB who makes the good decision.....Very few mistakes....
 
And finally, from looking at these threads it appears that the public is on Fresno along the order of 75%....These threads count as public don't they?

i have really been trying to stay away from this game, and early on i was buying into some of the Fresno hype...
 
but everyone is gobbling up this hype and completely ignoring all of the important handicapping issues in this game...
 
1) west coast team making a full east coast trip...
2) WAC team (very very very fucking weak ass conference... and this comes from someone who has lived their entire life in WAC country)... vs. a Big East team (very very underrated conference)...
3) Rice is one piece of a puzzle that WAS NOT ALL ABOUT RAY RICE... you guys sound like people who watch ESPN but don't watch games or know anything else about college football...
 
RUTGERS WAS MORE THAN RAY RICE... that team was balanced, had a very solid field-general QB and outstanding WRs, who all return... and most importantly, they were a team predicated on defense... and they won games against good teams in a good conference last year by playing defense... can Fresno say that?
 
i'm not going big on this game, but this thread has convinced me that Rutgers is the right play, because everyone is on Fresno for all of the wrong reasons...

That's funny......Anybody else on this thread remember Ridah's incredible run in the NBA and then throughout the playoffs...Seems I remember most of the threads anxiously awaiting Ridah's posts before the placed....

Sorry to bust your bubble Shepard. But I live in Philly, and went to 5 games last year. The offense was Ray Rice. It was balanced because they had 7 man fronts to stop Ray Rice. Do you know what hat means smart guy? Single coverage and if you are on a Big East team you better be able to beat single coverage. All the wrong reasons? Geeze. U r putting too much emphasis on the trip. The trip was scheduled, no delays, they didnt arrive at 2am, they had the right amount of sleep, practice, and such. Sounds like all the right reasons to me. Also thier main focal point on offense has been the running game, and now the running game has taken a huge step back. Re-read my posts and then think before you type. Take Rutgers if you want, but dont cry bullshit when they lose. IDIOT

I see where you're coming from regarding the conferences Shepherd... but at the same time, other than South Florida who did Rutgers beat last year?  they got whooped by UCONN and West Virginia, lost to Louisville at the end of the year...  

They beat USF, Pitt, Norfolk State, Buffalo,Navy, and Army... then followed it with a bowl victory (that I hope everyone won big on) against Ball St.  had they not scheduled some cupcakes they would have not even made a bowl game last year.

Fresno St would route any of the above teams mentioned-- either way folks go, GL to all on this game... it looks to be split down the middle when looking at consensus pages (Herbstreit picked Fresno)

i remember ridah's NBA run, joe... was impressive...
 
i also had a scintillating NBA run (closed out 19-2)... and am 9-0 to start off the college football season... and although Rutgers is not going down as one of my straight bets for the week (made a small 2 teamer play on them), i, like Ridah, am liking Rutgers in this one...

And the NBA is completely different than football. I can cap football but not basketball, two completely different things!!!!!!
 
But if he is that good at basketball then I cant wait till the season starts again so I can use him to make money.

canonblasters... quite a reasonable response to my post that provided more handicapping angles than any other post on this thread... that wasn't all about the hype, but was providing actual information to give people a more objective look at this game...

 

but yea, i'd say its fair to call me an idiot... i mean, only every single thing i said was completely 100% true and also completely 100% relevant for anyone who is trying to handicap this game...

My motto is To each thier own. But if your gonna pick a side don't give me "the trip was long" or "Ray Rice wasnt all thier offense" Cause he was. 2,000 yds opens a lot for the passing game. I wanna see how Teel does with a 800 yd rusher in the back field. I have said a bunch of times the recieving core is and will be deadly. But it is gonna be an ajustment on offense for a couple weeks.

by the way, canonblasters... i went 19-2 to end the NBA playoffs, and have started this college football season 9-0, with every game covering by double digits...

and every single game is posted on my covers page, all well before the game times...

so, yes, they are two different sports... but yes, capping is capping... you can be good at more than one sport... not only good, but dominant...

rutgers was a balanced offensive team... i watched most of their games for the past two seasons... they live on defense, and ball control, but part of that ball control was built on a successful passing game...
 
somebody on this thread (i'm guessing it was you) said "you can't replace a Ray Rice"... bullshit!  guys like Ray Rice get replaced about 20 times a year in college football... he was a great RB, but guess what?  he's not the last great RB who is ever gonna play college football... there will be others...

To RUTGERS Ray Rice is very hard to replace. Unlike USC, Texas, Wisconsin, and Oregon they dont have the blue chip talent behind him. There is a reason Rutgers isnt ranked.

By the way the Big East isn't under valued. Did I miss this weekend when Pitt lost to Bowling Green? Must have. Big East strong at the top (West Virginia) but medocre every where else.

Whats up covers, hows everyones labor day doing? Hopefully well, since most of us are all off work and enjoying todays matchup between fresno n rutgers. Thought i share a little trend with you guys, i wish everyone the best of luck in todays games. For me i am leaning towards fresno state here, Rutgers have new linebackers that are going to play, and you know fresno state love to run, especially with pat hill coaching. I think rutgers will come out strong the first half but fresno keeping it close. and hopefully finishing it off in the 2nd half, just my opinion,

i already have Tennessee as game #10... this game doesn't go on my card as a straight bet, but i feel more strongly about Rutgers with every passing minute...

Shepard did u miss the part where I went to 5 games last year? I think so. Im not misleading people when you have a 2000 yd rusher who opened up the passing game. And actually i dont play I coach. So if your not down with that I got two words for ya........

just to throw out some more stats, since someone pointed out Rutgers didn't beat anyone good last year, and that it is unjustified to suggest that the Big East is better than the WAC...
 
The Big East went 3-2 in bowl games... the WAC went 1-3 (both Rutgers and Fresno won their bowl games)... both teams return their QBs and a total of 16 starters from last year...
 
Rutgers played 4 games against bowl teams during the regular season...
Lost to Cincy 28-23
Beat USF 30-27
Lost to WV 31-3
Lost at UConn 38-19
(avg score, 32-19)
 
Fresno played 3 games against bowl teams during the regular season...
Lost at Oregon 52-21
Lost to Boise St 34-21
Lost at Hawaii 37-30
(avg score, 41-24)
 
 
so while Rutgers DID beat USF, Fresno did NOT beat anyone... this is what is called objective analysis... as opposed to just saying Rutgers "didn't beat anyone and the Big East sucks," ignoring the fact that Fresno beat even less than anyone and plays in an even worse conference...
