im an fsu fan, and to be perfectly honest, i dont know why the hell theyre forcing him out, he recruits good players for the acc and his record this year is alot worse then the team really was, they had a BUNCH of tough losses and that included a heartbreaker to miami and a game they had a chance to win vs ga tech.  he wins those 2 games and his job is never a question

It reflects an unpleasant reality in college football today... the "What have you done for me lately," mentality.

JoePa was very nearly forced out at Penn State in a similar scenario a few years ago after an 0-11 season.  People simply can't be patient any more while a program rebuilds... they have to see immediate results, or fuck the coach, he needs to go.

Sad to see Bowden go, but FSU now deserves whatever it gets.  They needed him far more than he needed them. 

college football is a cyclical thing. why is this relevant you ask? because right now the gators are killing them in statewide recruiting. ive dont recall fsu ever having to depend so much on out of state recruiting as they do now. simply put. the powers that be expect fsu to not only compete. they want them to get back to where they were. medicority doesnt keep the boosters happy at fsu. even if your last name is bowden.

No one cares that he built the FSU program  they only care about what can you do for me now?

Actually it's not what has he done for FSU lately...it's what has he done for FSU in the past 5 years+.  It's either good defense, no QB or offense, or decent offense and shitty defense.

So much disrespect on here, I'm surprised.  He's the second winningest coach ever!  Bowden has had a career none of us will ever imagine.  I'm not saying they haven't sucked, but just like JoePa's position at PSU, he should go when he's ready.  Let him stand on the sideline and observe, if that's what he wants.  They didn't have to announce it to the world.  He didn't stay because they made it known to the world that's all he would be doing.  JoePa's been doing it for years, and nobody even thinks twice about it.  He is still perceived as the Head Coach of Penn State. 

You cant possibly think having Bowden standing on the sidelines is a good thing. Thats as big of a distraction as it gets. but actually, thats what he does now. How often did he join huddles? SI had a great article about him a couple months ago. Basically, he does NOTHING football related. Just shows up to practice and watches. How long should they endure that? Another 5 years?

All points made above have merit...one of the most compelling is the one not mentioned: Money...i'm not sure of the year (possibly a year or two ago) Jimbo Fisher was brought in as off coord with the caveat of "Coach in waiting" AND a 5 million clause if jimbo didn't take over. Coach Bowden was well aware of this, we didn't hear all this then.....

They gave him the option to stay on but with no responsibility at all.. You think a man of his stature is going to do that? Hell no...You asked a damn question and people are giving you answers, so now you have your panties in a wad because you are not getting the answers that you want... The man is old, something is not going right, recruites are starting to look else where this year, someone had to be done... This year next year doesn't matter, he just wanted to catch JoPa and that is not happening now with JoPa having his team back to a 10 win a year team...So before you ask a stupid question next time, stop and think what answers you may get and ask yourself if those answers will be acceptable to you..And for the record I am not talking shit, I am saying Bowden has a it is all about me attitude now and it shows with everything he does.... He and Paterno deserve respect for their accomplishments, but let's be real. They are both figure heads at this point. Paterno isn't getting as much heat because his program is winning more games.  When alumni $$$ starts dropping, the AD has no choice.  An 80-year-old can't help but be less fervent in recruiting.  No young coach would have kept Andrews(DC) this long. You can't compare Bowden's coaching staff today to that of 10 years ago. he no longer is grooming future head coaches, but riding it out. Jimbo's hire was a hint and the last nail in the coffin. Not a FSU fan, but Bowden is top 5 coaches of all time for me!

Its simple 1999 last championship unfortunately your judged for what you've done lately. The past is gone the future is unknown and your responsible for today! No doubt what he HAS done in past speaks high volumebut look in the state of Florida new coach Meyer new championship even Miami won a few yrs past. The last 10yrs is a disgrace under FSU standards who's fault is it a 18 yr old Freshman a 19 yr old sophmore? you cant blame teenagers the blame goes to your fearless leader. The tv analysts have been commenting every week this yr how you can run around corners on FSU when in yrs past never. Look at the NFL players they use to produce now u get 1 if your lucky. Mickey Anrews had that defense great for 20yrs this is the 1st yr he got blasted is his fault for failling offenses the last 10yrs. Everyone is replaceable even the president they change. The bottom line college football is big money for universities and even bigger when you win its one of the bissest revenues they make FSU fans started not showing up in the stands for the 1st time in 20yrs in todays world you can't afford that to happen.
