and the fact that so many students are showing blind loyalty (as if that is ever justified) to one of the criminals in all of this, just because they can't bear for the image of their icon to be damaged...

we all should pray for the victims and their family.. we're all losing focus with who's to blame and shit like that.. need to focus on the healing process for the victims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  that former penn st D coor will have his judgement day with THE LORD soon enough!!!!!!!

I'm really curious.  Is your niece a rabid diehard football fan?  If not, why does she care so much whether Paterno stays?

10 years ago or so, Penn State football sucked. They were hanging effigies of Paterno outside his home, and there was tons of pressure on him to retire. Only b/c his team improved in 05 or so, did that pressure die down.

It's a really sad testament.  Lose football games, and people don't care if you're fired.  But ignore child molestation and get fired, and people riot in protest.

Look, obviously he had to go, but he said he would be stepping down at season's end. Why obliterate his legacy by firing him (through a cowardly phone call, no less)? Penn State was nothing before Paterno arrived. He IS the school.

The students are way out of line, but the maturity of the "adults" in the situation isn't a whole lot better.

 

Now there's a rumor going around that the scumbag was pimping these boys to wealthy men. This is about to get worse...

i just cant believe Joe Pa said he was disappointed with the decision of the board.....how the hell does he have the hunger to coach even after all this bullshit? i dont know how PSU staff can even think straight with that in their minds. Since the story came out it's all i've been thinking about and how many years has Paterno and School staff been knowing about it? Win or lose the aura of the locker rooms will never be the same.  I'm not wasting my time on the students.
