Oops. I meant to write something. Although we disagree on the game, I love that quote.....
On a side note, as an OSU fan I have not been impressed with Tressel's game preparations and in-game adjustments. I think the only chance OSU has in this game is to line up 4 wide and Pryor in the spread. THE WHOLE GAME. This could minimize some of their O line struggles, but would completely go against Tressel's conservative calling. Ice, you think we might see something like this or this this bum Tressel gonna line up and line up and run 2 and have Pryor faced with several 3 and 6??
good question, Insight... this is the million dollar question, really...
i think Tressel is losing a bit of his mystique... but i know he knows that this is almost a make or break game for him... OSU fans fell in love with him because he came in and turned around the series with Lloyd Carr and Michigan, after so many years of failure... but now he has this little USC problem, and it's one thing to lose to USC over and over in the Rose Bowl... if USC comes into old Horseshoe and mugs them again, he is never going to hear the end of it from the hometown fans...
point is... i have to imagine he was doing a bit of a Miami Dolphin act in that last game (i.e. rope a dopin') and not tipping his hand for the big game... he has to have something up his sleeve... er, wait he has no sleeves... well under his vest... and i assume it is gonna be something like what you are suggesting... he has to pull out all the stops in this one... and i'm guessing it's gotta be about Pryor...
so honestly... yes, i do think he's gonna come into the game trying to go 4 wide and spread out the defense...
but the big questions are... 1) is Carroll smart enough to anticipate this?... and 2) if he isn't, will it be enough for OSU to have success and hurt USC doing it?... and 3) if it is, will Carroll get his head out of his ass and make the adjustments in game, or will it take until halftime to figure it out...
i'm guessing Tressel has watched the Oregon St game from last year, and knows that OSU came in with a gameplan that was effective, and that it took Carroll a whopping 30 minutes to figure it out... if Tressel can pull off something like this, that is OSU's only chance...
and yes, this does concern me slightly... however, i'm taking my chances, because i think USC's offense can have success regardless, and because i am hoping either way OSU won't have enough potency either way to bury USC early the way Oregon St did last year...
we'll see... but your point is definitely a good one, and one i keep coming back to in this game... it is all about what kind of tricks Tressel has... um... down his pants, i guess...
