Van, what line did you get for Clemson? I know your thread is what the current line is, but what did you actually get? 7?
I got +7, and all the way down to 5.5 - I started betting it when it came out but as you know limits are somewhat small - so I have about a quarter at +7, and the rest at 5.5 through 6.5...

Clemson is my best bet of the weekend - one of my favorite games of the season so far...
Just for the record.
Based on the line movement compared to the "percentages" this game just seems awfully fishy. Line opened up at 7, heavy action on Miami and yet the line drops Based on this it is Clemson or no play for me. BOL

Van -- I know what you're looking for. I will check it out later. I look at lines, % , what money came in at what time and what % was coming in on when the line opened and where it's at now. I do it for NFL games every week and, well, I'm hitting about 67% of my games this year. (yes, posted every week on the NFL board). I usually don't do it for college because there are so many damn games.

Honestly - these numbers are totally off my radar. I hear lots about them here - but my opinion is that they are totally bogus and mean nothing - and are really a cottage industry based on the notion that gamblers are lazy and want simple answers to complex questions.
So the reason I asked is totally voyeuristic - like a freak show at the circus.
Freak show at the circus.

Can't you just contact your book for an "over the limit" wager? I know when I used superbook.com, if I wanted to make a wager over the limit I would contact them via chat and give them my bet ID and how much I wanted to wager and they would take care of it.

Here is the thing, guys: There is a little tactic used by some sharps and betting companies (not touts, actually gambling gurus in Vegas) that go and throw out money on a game when the line opens to move it one way. The word gets out that "so and so dropped $30k on so and so"....and word starts to spread all over the place. Then these people go back and bet their real money on the opposite side when they get maximum value on those games. It a tactic that goes back to the 80s. That is why late steam is good to follow. I watched the Tulsa / UTEP lines and 5 minutes before game time the board that I follow lit up red all across the whole damn thing. UTEP went from 9 or 9.5 at some places right back down to 8 and 8 -105 all across the entire board. So looking at percentages isn't the only thing you need to check out, at least in my opinion.

I only bet at books that deal with bigger limits - and those books (like pinnacle) wont take a phone call from me (I assume anyone).
I have a total of about 40K on the game, and was able to drip in about 10K at +7 - keep in mind that I only bet at books with bigger limits and very reputable books - so that gives me a list of 5 or so books that I will bet with.... Superbook.com is not on that list....

my totally unscientific very public (pick three games per week) office pool suggests that the public plays are GT and Miami. This pool is usually wrong. It suggests the plays are UVA and Clemson.

Actually, this is one of my problems (only one) with these numbers. The amount of money it takes to move a line on Sunday night when they come out is far less than it takes on saturday one hour before kickoff.

VAN, I have a buddy who solved that problem, he rented an apartment to share deal in LV, got a cell phone with LV area code, set up account with a sportsbook, then he just phoned his action in. I know the "technicalities" of it all, but he has been doing it for two years now with no issues.

honestly, I don't see why they would make the percentages up.. if you read on sportsinsights FAQ pages they make it quite believable

I thought about doing that, Atl. I know it's *ahem*illegal (if you get caught) but the thought has crossed my mind to start a small service to take calls in Vegas and go place bets for people that are out of state. I'm sure there is some sort of loophole. I know I could find one, actually.
