Spurrier hinting Clowney is done.....

In his press conference today, Spurrier said even if Clowney never plays another snap, S. Carolina is proud that he chose their school.

There is no reason for Spurrier to say that if there wasn't an ounce of truth to him quitting.

Clowney is an idiot.  If he quits because he's scared to get injured, that means he will have to stay in shape for a year by himself for the combine.

But we all saw clearly how out of shape he was against North Carolina WITH coaches and other players to practice with.  

If being a Heisman candidate and possible #1 pick wasn't incentive enough, what would be??

This dude's draft stock will plummet.  Analysts still think he will be a top 10 pick but I honestly don't think the dude has the work ethic to stay in shape by himself.

Any thoughts?

he'll be a top 10 pick short of him robbing a bank.......

i agree he may have dropped alot from no-brainer #1 pick (maybe no-brainer non-QB pick was what he was)

Some team will give him a shot and give him a few million.  But he doesn't have a pro athlete mentality.  He won't last.

But he might just want the money and run.

the good thing is these guys don't make the huge money from the draft anymore....

no more jamarcus russell's.......  the financial risk of clowney turning out to be a bust isn't that high... 

you give up the value of the pick, but if he doesn't pan out, you probably end up with another high pick the year or two after that you wouldn't have had if he was a good player... so you haven't necessarily lost much.

i think jake locker voluntarily went from last huge money draft class to first reduced money class. and he was thought to be consensus #1 pick but of course i think he would have probably dropped in testing anyway..

lastly, albert hainsworth is probably the poster child (with jamarcus russell) for huge money bust but that was as NFL free agent.

True, I guess.  I just don't understand some of these kids mentality.  It's the "what can you do for me" mentality.  It's like unemployed people who are "too proud" to work at a fast-food restaurant.  I don't get it.

this Clowney stuff is very strange, I'm sure there will be some sort of story come out soon

he is a very talented player and would be a great pro if he wants to be, it will be interesting to see what happens

It is strange.  After the UNC game, he said he was sick but he didn't tell the coaches.  He was clearly winded and looked out of shape.

Now, he pulls himself out of a game before it starts, is very strange.

He's either getting horrible advice or is playing a mental game with himself.

first  is overated  not top 10  maybe  15  to   22,he is affraid bcs marcus lattimore injury (comparaison) and ''the hit', in Michigan game last year was solid but it was  ONE hit ,a selfish clown.

I am assuming there is more to this story than we know... probably the entire story behind all of this is something we aren't hearing about...

Anyway, if there isn't more to it, and he's just protecting his future investment... it's kind of hard to blame him!  We've seen a few other players in the NFL get drafted high and have almost immediate success, even though they hadn't played competitively in more than a year... and until they start paying college athletes, what exactly is the motivating factor to keep playing CFB, for a guy who knows he is a top 10 pick as long as he is healthy?

The amount of money Clowney could potentially gain (i.e. increase his stock) by finishing this year and playing great, is about 1% of the amount he could potentially lose by suffering a serious injury...

Any investor in the world would tell you Clowney (or any other great CFB) would be smart to protect their investment and move on to the professional game... only people it really makes a lot of sense for is the people who are still trying to prove that they can play at the next level...

JD will still be high first rounder....  but as a coach, I wouldn't want him in my locker room....

he's absolutely lazy!!!

Playing only 1 out of 4 downs, when he got beat,he'd just quit....

he made one, 1, 1 good tackle last year on a missed block and the dude's helmet comes off......that was poor blocking, not good tackling....total media created hype....he's a bum!

Even Spurrier said in the post game, "that's the first I heard of him being sick...."

You guys act like he is TO or something??  Not a locker room cancer, not a trouble maker, not a druggie, not a gansta.  He is an outstanding player that got waaaaay overhyped.  He  kinda reminds me of Jevon Kearse (sp?).  He has been playing hurt all year, and he didn't want to risk his career for a Kentucky game, lets all calm down.  All of you idiots who say he had one play last year must only watch Sportscenter top 10 to get sports info.

how can you say he's that good, he never touched my qb  - not one damn time....what his stomach hurt???  He's out of shape listening to sports center tell him how good he is....

his tummy hurt cause he can't run...he was breathing through his mouth, hands on hips, obviously you don't know what that means, it means he can 't run cause he's lazzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyy!  no discipline, no training....= gassed after 3 plays

truth is  probably hasn't seen a classroom yet.  his tutor quit. kids that age can go and should never be out of shape. my bro played 4 years at S.C. and when he went to the NY Giants he was amazed how out of shape the pros were during workouts. when you quit its the heart that quits. won't make it in the pros when you quit in college.....
