September 11th is a special day for us all. It especially means alot to me for 2 reasons. One for the obvious reason and secondly for that fact that this is the day I lost my Dad 2 years ago.

I want to talk for a few minutes on some things that's not College football related. I think most of you know me as a straight forward individual who wears his heart on his sleeve at times. I wont dis agree with that, but I think that's what makes me be me. I think most people like the things I say because I am genuine . When I spend time on here writing things like " The Ten Things We Learned ". I do it because I feel like a give a honest and open opinion on what we all see from week to week. I do what I do on here and say the things I say on here because I'm a emotional person. I give my honest opinion on things and I think people respect that.

But there are somethings that are just WAY more important in life then college football. I want to take a few minutes to express how September 11th not only changed my life, but changed millions of Americans. Family is the most important thing to me. My Faith, Family and life in general are the things in life we should all embrace everyday. We should always put these things first in our lives. I encourage everyone of you to make sure you Love your Mother, love your father, love brothers and sisters, Kids and cousins. Make sure you hug your children every day and tell them you love them. These are the most important things in life, not football, baseball or basketball. I say it all the time, Money means nothing to me. I can make all the money in the world and it just simply cant make me happy. I cherish my family and time more then anything as should you guys as well.

I say all this because I remember where I was the day the planes hit the towers. I remember how empty I felt. I remember crying as I watched innocent people jump from burning buildings and plunge to their deaths. I remember feeling lost and confused. Now imagine how the family's felt. Imagine if it was someone you loved. I also remember how unified we felt for a few months there. You guys remember that? There were no arguments, no fighting and most importantly there were was not one car not flying the American Flag. United we were. I knew from that day on I would never be the same. Every morning I tell my wife and kids I love them because that is whats important in life. So no matter what religion, race or nationality you are.....stop a minute and remember the ones that died that day. They deserve our respect.

I'm writing this in tribute to all the September 11th victims. So Please no rude comments.

To end this I want to say this. I'm PROUD to be an American. I love my family and miss the ones that are gone. But I will never forget this day as it changed my life and so many others.

    Thanks for listening

I remember sleeping in my chem class after taking a test, head down....then hearing on the PA what was happening. The rest of the day felt like a dream, couldn't believe it.

man I am very very honored to read that post.....you are ever so right.....gambling is a hobby, something to do, it is not LIFE.....if you cant take a day or 2 and just forget sports and focus on this, something is bad wrong with you as a person...and YES FAMILY should always be first.....if you ever start turning down playing in yard with kids or taking your wife to the movies "because of games and gambliing" i strongly suggest you stop gambling

how many " *** " do you need to draw attention to a 9/11 thread where you do nothing but rehash the same cliches for the 1 millionth time over

You actually think you're saying something unique and significant with this

Barrelledin you dont realize this but you gain nothing by being a dick towards other people. I understand you may be a miserable and insecure person and that it makes you feel good trying to make people feel insignificant with your rude comments but let me assure you that your temporary high is exactly that ,temporary. How you act towards others actually affects you in your life in the long run. Every action you make in this life is followed by a reaction. So to sum it up being a dick towards others is actually just being a dick towards yourself. Which can only lead to a miserable life. So why not try to change your wheel of karma today and stop being an A hole. Start showing some love and compassion towards others and see how your life will change for the better.

I appreciate you taking the time to do this Boom. I think it's important to discuss tragedies, if for no other reason, so we don't forget.

Well said. I remember that day, and I must say I agree with one of the above...it just didn't feel real. I felt like I was sleepwalking through the day. All night watching specials on all the ties some people had to Here in Hawaii. Unreal. Takes a special person to take the time out on a forum like this and recognize the events. You will be blessed this week...

I remember this day vividly.  I was living in a fraternity house at Georgia Southern University and was awakened by screams of "HOLY SHIT!!", from one of my fraternity brothers.  Thanks for reflecting in this post.  Hats off to you.
